hello all.

I was wondering has anybody done or seen of this being done before. I really want tri ribbed tyres however over here in the UK they only sell them 4" wide. and my rims are 5.5" wide I wondered will 4" tyres fit on 5.5 rims if I get inner tubes and blow them out a bit they might sit and blow out to the rim ??? what do you lot think about this?

I personally would not do it,  if nothing else (load and shock transfer) it just plain looks bad

I'm pretty certain all the guys in the UK have done this - I had a pair of narrow rims ready for tyres but lost them in the fire...

Yeah we do it all the time over here, The rubber on them tires is pretty thick and they stretch just fine.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. I have two sets of the deestone d401 tri ribs 4.00-8 on the narrower early rims and they look right. The wider 5.38 (I think that is the correct width) is just two wide for my liking. But that's just my feelings on the subject. I wouldn't use them on my c125 and that has the wider rims (5.38) that are more suited to 6.50 or 7.50 tires. I sort of remember Kelly or some others on here using the wider firestone tri ribs from miller tire, I think?
