dbowl 1 #1 Posted October 12, 2013 Here is a what I believe to be a Raider 10 from 1974. What is something like this worth if you were going to buy it? Appears to be in excellent condition. Thanks.
posifour11 723 #2 Posted October 12, 2013 Saw it on craigslist. Its a 1973 10-8 speed if the decals are correct. If you post the model number from the data plate, one of us can pinpoint it. As far as value, I'm no good at that. Oh, and welcome to redsquare. It sure is pretty, BTW.
Coadster32 793 #3 Posted October 12, 2013 Welcome to RS. It certainly looks like a fine tractor there. As far a price.....it all depends. If your lawn mower blew up, you have a nice sized yard and you can get this tractor for less than the cost of a new lawnmower, then it's a good price. If you are replacing a "newer generation" tractor...whatever the price on this one will be worth it. (especially In 10 years when it's still going strong). This tractor in particular isn't considered a "collectable" one, but don't let that hold you back. If your looking for a stocking stuffer....look elsewhere or make it your own!! If you are looking to buy low, and sell high...you're on your own because I wouldn't part with a WH that nice. Seriously though, it's only worth what you feel is a good price for YOU. If the seller is a collector or has sentimental value on it, you shouldn't be talked out of your comfort zone. I do agree that it appears to be in great shape, and would be worth a few "extra" bucks out of comfort range. The cutting deck does add value, and the attachment list for this tractor is pretty big. New lawnmowers go for $300+ nowadays. If I needed this tractor, I wouldn't mind going up to $400 if it functioned and ran as good as it looked. (If I wanted this tractor, I'd wouldn't go as high) Doesn't look like you can go wrong...go get em' tiger!!
AMC RULES 37,127 #4 Posted October 12, 2013 Looks pretty nice to me... know if that Is that original paint, or a restoration?
Sparky-(Admin) 21,300 #5 Posted October 12, 2013 Dont be drawn in by shiny paint and nice decals. Thats a 40 year old 10hp machine that's been spinning a 48" deck for 40 years so I would want to know if the motor or tranny has been rebuilt and is the seller the original owner so you could get some history on it. Do I see wood blocks under the seat? Dont get me wrong its a great looking machine and worth taking a look at if the $$ isnt crazy. Its a 1973 so the good news is that it will accept all the attach-a-matic attachments made from 1973 to present. That being said. If its just new paint its a $300-$400 machine. If it has documents proving its been rebuilt add another $200-$300 to that. Unfortunately if the seller put a ton of money into it he might want to try and get it back out of it, which is usually not possible with fully restored machines done correctly. Just my opinion. squonk 41,017 #6 Posted October 12, 2013 The wood block appears to be an attempt to get the seat higher. Why put seats right on the fender pan like that I have no idea and if you have long legs it's like a circus bear on a tricycle. I'd say $350-$450 and if you get it, find a mower scrap yard and pick up some seat springs.
GlenPettit 1,716 #7 Posted October 12, 2013 (edited) Looks like everything is there and the wear showing is minimal. All knobs and grips look great & were taken care of, seat is as expected.. The large deck lift lever appears to have a small bend in it. Price: "need vs want". Above price from Mike looks good. Ken B 3,164 #8 Posted October 12, 2013 If nice Horse's don't pop up in your area very often that can play a part in adding to its value. I NEVER see a tractor that clean on C/L these days for 400 bucks in my area. Lately all I see is beat up JUNK in the 400 buck range. If that tractor is all original and if it were mine I wouldn't let it go for less than 550.00.
