kaiser 100 #1 Posted October 1, 2013 my family and i went to visit in-laws in virginia this past weekend. my father in-law gave us his restored 1948 farmall cub. now i just need to figure out how to get back there and get her. her name is Shirley. he got her in 95 from the original owner. she was in rough shape. i'm talking with a buddy who has a truck and trailer to go get her in a few weeks. 8 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

kaiser 100 #5 Posted October 1, 2013 "i guess i picked a bad day to stop sniffing glue" i can't lie, i'm pretty darn excited. when we first started looking at buying a new home we almost bought a small farm in litchfield ct. my father in law came with us to check the house out. we were all really excited about it and it was then when he told me we can have the cub. then the sale fell though and we bought our current home in new milford. then i didn't think i'd have the room or need for a tractor that size. but we do and visiting this weekend was all i needed to make me take him up on it. once i laid eyes on the old girl i knew i'd be back soon to rescue her from the closet she's stored in. it will mostly be used to plow snow when there's only a lfew inches instead of breaking out the snowblower and to clean up the long grass on the perimeter on the yard. maybe some small stump pulling too. kaiser 100 #20 Posted November 11, 2013 (edited) this past weekend was our first "work weekend" for ourt new cub. holy moly did she work well. i'm at a loss for words. it was pure joy working her this weekend. what a ride, like a cadillac. both the farmall and the wheel horse got work and both were flawless. the farmall can't mow like a wheel horse thats for sure, but oh boy was the farmall smooth. my wife (who is legally blind and can't drive a car) was all over it. it was the fisrt thing she ever drove when she was a kid. and our 4 year old son, gavin, sure enjoyed riding around with mom. kaiser 100 #23 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) i'm not 100% sure what she originally did. she was the 2nd or 3rd tractor on a family farm in colchester ct. my father inlaw bought her in the early 90's from the original farm. when he got her, she ran but barely. the front end was wasted, no paint left, etc.... he only took the snow blade/grader blade and sickle bar mower. he didn't take the cultivators, seeders and other implements. so she was being used to farm.
