motox25 36 #1 Posted September 19, 2013 I recently went through the Onan P220 on my Toro 520H I recently purchased and ordered some parts that were either missing or needed replacing. I ordered part # 82-0680 (Gasket Oil Filter) thinking it was the gasket to seal the the oil filter, but it appears to fit around the oil filter instead Can anyone confirm where this goes and what exactly it does? I have a 520H parts manual but it doesn't illustrate this part.
WH nut 553 #2 Posted September 20, 2013 Is it a rubber type boot. If it is, its to seal the blower housing to the filter so the air doesn't escape.
smoreau 658 #3 Posted September 20, 2013 You do need it as it will effect the cooling of the head.
motox25 36 #4 Posted September 20, 2013 aha, yes it is a rubber type boot, thank you!
MalMac 1,332 #5 Posted September 21, 2013 Every prior post is correct, put it on. You would not believe the amount of air that escapes without it that should be going to help cool.
motox25 36 #6 Posted September 22, 2013 I'm glad I ordered it then, I wonder if that's part of the reason several people have had issues with the rear cylinder overheating because I have never seen a 520H with this seal still installed.
AMC RULES 37,146 #7 Posted September 22, 2013 Can we get a pict uploaded here with this seal in place?

varosd 1,185 #9 Posted September 25, 2013 strange that in my 88/89 Parts manual, the seal isn't listed...must have been a later improvement.
