zieg72 209 #1 Posted September 11, 2013 (edited) If the drive belt is taken off the engine and removed will the tractor push easy? Never tried it so inquiring minds want to know... It is a 1991 Edited September 11, 2013 by zieg72
farmer 1,075 #2 Posted September 11, 2013 I don't think it would make a difference zieg, as its the 'pump' you have to turn, pushing really slowly gives least resistance. Good luck
zieg72 209 #3 Posted September 11, 2013 OK guess I will have to come up with a plan B
ericj 1,578 #4 Posted September 11, 2013 they push easier if it hasn't been run for awhile. the longer they sit the easier they push after sitting for a day or so they push as easy as manual eric j
leeave96 487 #5 Posted September 11, 2013 How far do you need to move the tractor?
zieg72 209 #6 Posted September 11, 2013 How far do you need to move the tractor? 60 feet after I start dis-assembly. I promised my wife she wouldn't see it after I brought it home near the garage when I am not working on it and I aim to keep this promise.
Shuboxlover 478 #7 Posted September 11, 2013 The tractors with the Eaton trannys push WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY easier that the ones with the sunstrands....My 520 pushes really easy when all the time.
Kelly 1,029 #8 Posted September 11, 2013 Move the control lever all the way forwards, it helps some, the eatons do push much easier than the sunstrands, and if it sets a week or more it should push fairly easy.
546cowboy 301 #9 Posted September 12, 2013 In my experience some push easy and some don't want to move at all. I have had to pull one before with another tractor to get it back to the shop and I know the manual says not to do that but I haven't hurt one yet doing it. The Sundstrand's are much worse. I have pulled that relief valve completely out and taken the filter off and still couldn't move those.
boovuc 1,090 #10 Posted September 12, 2013 You can move it 60 feet by moving the motion lever all the way forward and pushing it slowly. This will not hurt the transmission at all. you just don't want to tow it with anything.
zieg72 209 #11 Posted September 12, 2013 Thanks all, I have a plan now. My biggest concern was hurting a perfectly good hydro unit. I am using parts from it for all 3 of my tractors. Once I start working on it I am not going to stop until I got it stripped to the point it won't roll anyway. I have an old trailer I will load it on and drag it off to the corner of my lot. Forest Road 594 #13 Posted September 12, 2013 Are you completely dissembling it? If so why not pull the hydro pump. Should push with zero effort.
zieg72 209 #14 Posted September 13, 2013 Phase 1 done, it didn't push to bad but it didn't matter where the lever was.
zieg72 209 #15 Posted September 21, 2013 I only had to push it once. Got er done and tucked away. It looks like the engine has to come out to install the gear reduction steering but I'll get er done and take pictures as I go.
