Do 520H's have safeties?

Recommended Posts

Looking for a 60 inch deck model for my son to mow part of our property with and am considering a 520H as I've heard so many good things about them.  However, do these have the safety on them which kills the motor if the operator leaves the seat with the blades running?  Also, it seems these are running in the 1200-1500 range in running condition, is that about right?

Also, if anyone has other models I should consider, I'm all ears. We have 5 acres of lawn, but only about 1 acre or so for him to mow as I use a zero turn with a 72" deck for the rest.

I've been a member of the old forum for a while, but my profile seems to have been lost in space somewhere, so I look like a rookie.

As far as all the safety switches, yes they do. Plus a lot of other wiring the other models don't have. Price that's in the ball park if its in good condition. Again condition means everything.

I am in n/w PA...about 80 miles north of PGH and I have a 1997 model 520H with a 60" deck for sale.  This 520-H has only 484 hours on it and it runs without so much as a burp and absolutely no smoke at all.  The Onan 20hp engine starts easily and runs perfectly across the rpm range, staying smooth without 'searching' at all.  It has a 425CCA battery, all lights and dash-board gauges work, safety switches are intact, and a very positive and strong Eaton 1100 power unit.  This one has the Gear Reduction steering, forward swept front axle, louvered hood, and hyd lift of course.  The seat isn't torn or split, and it has arm rests.  The seat flip up static piston actually works too (1st I've seen for a while).  The motion and lift controls are on the steering column and work flawlessly.  There are no puddles on floor from leaking anything....all dry, and all good.

I backed into it with my truck this spring and had to replace the fender so the decal on it isn't correct.  The right front corner of the hood was damaged by PO and is repaired by pop-rivets yet a couple dents remain.  The paint has flaked off in some panels and the fender allowing surface rust to raise its ugly head.

The PO was a truck driver...thus the Mack Bulldog mounted to the hood.
