SPINJIM 1,981 #1 Posted September 6, 2013 The evening before I was supposed to leave on vacation, Craigslist listed a 312-8 for $50. It was only 20 minutes away, so of course I had to delay my vacation to go get it. Wife was surprisingly understanding. I called the seller within an hour after he listed. He didn't know what model it was, and said it hadn't run in three years because the belt kept slipping off the deck pulley. I arranged to come get it the next morning. The seller said he had had a few calls about it, but I was the first one, so I could have it. In case someone offered him big bucks for it, I explained to him that it was probably worth more than $50, and that I would be willing to pay him a little more. He was a real gentleman, and said $50 would be ok because he just wanted it out of his shed. The shed was about to fall down, and he wanted to rebuild it. Tires all flat, so I made a second trip with a floor jack, an air compressor and trailer. After vacation, power washed three years of dirt, and plan to work on it this week.
tunahead72 2,403 #2 Posted September 6, 2013 Nice find, looks like you got it out of that shed just in time! You'll keep us posted on your progress, right, with photos? By the way, is that a dealer tag on the left side, just under the hood latch?

SPINJIM 1,981 #9 Posted September 6, 2013 There was a dealer tag on it, but I pealed it off when I washed it, and don't remember. Owner was in Landenburg, PA in Chester County. Engine turns freely. Not as much rust as I feared; mostly just dirt and mouse nests. Hope to drain old gas and oil, clean carb, and try to start today.

leeave96 487 #12 Posted September 7, 2013 Very nice find. I believe that tractor will clean-up nicely. At least it wasn't setting in a fence row getting rain and snow.
