Tire Size Help for C 161 Automatic

I just ordered 23x10.5x12 Carlisle AG's for my C 161 Automatic. Here are my questions.

 

1. Will these tires fit my stock rims? Or will I need larger rims?

 

2. Will I have any problems with space? Or will I need spacers? Where would I buy the spacers if needed?

I think your new rear tires will balloon some due to the rim width. A wider rim off say a newer 520 would be best (wide and with the proper offset to not hit the fuel tank). Either way it will clear the under-fender fuel tank, no spacers needed.

Off brand ags run small and will fit the stock rim better, but still not right, the Carlisle tires will bow up in the middle more they run closer to true size, like Sparky said the 8.5" wide 520 wheels are better suited for the 10.5 tires.

I had a C-141 auto with stock rims (basically the same tractor) with those exact tires and there was no fit problem at all.

i was considering the deestones in 23 x 10.50-12 for the rear of kents 875. i also had interest in the duro 23 x 10.50-12 which looked to be just slightly smaller than the deestone tire. i know the carlisles run bigger than these other two, like was mentioned above. these were going on standard 7" rims, so i knew the carlisles were out (for the look i wanted)....... having seen pics of the duro tires on 7" rims (search on the forum, theres a few) i ended up going for them. i think they look good with just the right amount of 'bulge'........

 

the deestone tires i looked at were all 6 or 8 ply and really wanted to stay lighter construction at 4. so i went with the duros. personally i think they look better than the deestones, tread slightly rounded more on the shoulders and smoother sidewalls. i know this doesnt help you with your questions though.......

 

i hope your tires work out ok, im sure you will get them to fit the standard rims, or use 8.50" wide ones. just a little bit of experimentation to find the look you want......

 

i personally like to see what others have done with the parts im interested in first, before laying down the cash. sometimes it takes a lot of searching the forum or internet to get the info, but you can almost guarantee that others in this hobby have been there first.......
