mattd860 162 #1 Posted August 31, 2013 My friends 11yr old son was driving my C-161 and banged into my truck going full speed. Everyone is find and so is the truck. But the tractor took a beating. Anyone have a light and hood? Doesn't someone here make reproduction lights? I dont' care if the hood is rusted because I will sandblast it and repaint it. As long as it's straight and dent free that will be fine.

Kelly 1,029 #3 Posted August 31, 2013 Look for one closer to you as shipping sucks on hoods, but I have a couple real straight ones, let me know if you don't find one, Glad he is ok.
Sparky-(Admin) 21,300 #4 Posted August 31, 2013 Did he hit the steering wheel with his chest? Looks like it was a hard hit. Glad no one was hurt. Sorry no spare hoods here. Mike........
mattd860 162 #5 Posted August 31, 2013 Did he hit the steering wheel with his chest? Looks like it was a hard hit. Glad no one was hurt. Sorry no spare hoods here. Mike........ No - he held on really tight. The hood really softened the blow since it crumpled so much.
squonk 41,017 #6 Posted August 31, 2013 Crumple zone! I had 2 hoods last year I would have given you but they are gone. All I got is a black hood at the moment. I'll check around though.

mattd860 162 #8 Posted August 31, 2013 Ultimately it was the muffler that stopped the tractor, not the hood. Thankfully there is no other damage to the motor, hoodstand, or dash mount. These things really can take a beating.
daveoman1966 3,745 #9 Posted August 31, 2013 Here is a clean hood...you MAY need the hood hinges too and I'll include them. $35 plus ship charges..... what is your zip? Located in n/w PA at zip 16433

Anglo Traction 761 #11 Posted August 31, 2013 Glad he's ok,....... the Tractor, I'm sure you'll fix up. ....maybe worth thinking about knocking up a remote controlled Kill Switch for when the youngsters are on it
mattd860 162 #12 Posted August 31, 2013 FYI - I'm willing to trade a GEN 1 Hydro Foot Pedal kit for a hood and lights.
dennist 139 #13 Posted September 1, 2013 Matt, I am glad the youngster is ok, because the tractor looks bad! I bet he was really wound up about what happened. Looks like you will be finding what you are looking for with the offers, which is good. Since I sold my 418, I have not come across another till this past week and will hopefully be picking it up tomorrow or Monday. Good luck with the fix. leeave96 487 #14 Posted September 1, 2013 The foot control wasn't stuck was it... I sold a C-111 roller to a guy one time. He was plowing snow downhill on a paved driveway and if I recall correctly, he got into some ice and somehow managed to run into a vehicle. Probably a truck where the blade would go under it. Glad everyone/everything is OK.

GlenPettit 1,716 #17 Posted September 1, 2013 I'm impressed, you are a very positive person. No negative comments about your tractor, what happened to it, or the person(s) that caused it. It is a very nice restoration and you really care about it. Trusting everything will work out, and it will, with your Great attitude.
mattd860 162 #18 Posted September 1, 2013 Thanks Glen. Honestly, I have these tractors for people to enjoy, young or old. I also love seeing kids have fun without tv or video games. Its only metal and if the hoods were a priceless commodity, I would just fix this one. I told my friends son that as soon as I fix it he's welcome to take it for a ride again.
