Digger 66 3,488 #1 Posted August 21, 2013 Got a question for you folks : I'm looking for front tires for my Raider 10 & want the 3 rib farm-tractor style rather than turf tires . I see that they show up with some sizes that I don't quite understand like : 16.5L/65 15 My stock tires are in dimensions that I can comprehend : Front tires : 16 X 6.50 X 8 Is there a chart ore something to convert the stock turf tires sizes to the 3 rib farm tractor style measurements ? groundhog47 347 #2 Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) Digger, try this site>>http://www.millertire.com/products/lawn-garden-tires/16x6-50-8/16x6-50-8-firestone-3-rib-front-4-ply/ They are pretty beefy, but look good on the ground, consider tubes, mine have difficulty sealing and didn't retry a sealing compound. These are on a four hole rim for a spindle hub. Hope this is a kinda sota area you were askin'. There other pages have comparison info but tah tire you list sounds like a 15" rim possibly Edited August 22, 2013 by groundhog47
js5020 111 #3 Posted August 22, 2013 I just traded out a set of 16x6.50x8 turfs on a 16 Auto,,, rim width was approx 3 3/4" and I put on 4x8 tri ribs with tubes they worked out well. http://
Kelly 1,030 #4 Posted August 22, 2013 to fit your stock narrow rims look for 4x8 or 4.80x8 I highly recommend Deestone brand tri ribs, most often they come with tubes for about $60-70 for a pair, the big tri ribs found only at Miller tire are 16x6.50x8 and are kinda wide for your early narrow rims and they run about $170 a pair. JamesBe1 82 #5 Posted August 22, 2013 I have to replace the front tires on my C-120. One of my tires has a constant leak, and the other has dry rot so bad, that the tube is sticking out holes in the side of the tire. I can't find my parts manual, but I am assuming that they are the same as my C-145. The parts manual for the '45 says they are 16x5.6-8. I like the tri-ribs, but $70 each is kinda pricey. Anyone know of good alternatives? Plus there are tubes to go with it. Has anyone ever experience the tubes slowly rotating inside of the rim? That's what is happening on my tire that leaks. Went to put air in it, and I could barely get the chuck on the valve stem. I've had that happen to me on several tires over the years. Any way to prevent that from happening? For that reason, I am leaning towards not going with tubes. But I don't want to experience a tire that won't seal properly. Are there any sealants sold for that purpose? j
js5020 111 #6 Posted August 22, 2013 For the tri ribs I got em from Greater Cleveland Tire 4.00-8 Deestone tri ribs for 39.50 a pair. They were out of tubes at the time so I got those at the local TSC for 8 bucks each.

js5020 111 #9 Posted August 22, 2013 Rough dimensions on the 4x8 tri ribs are approximately 16x4x8. Pop off one of your turfs and measure the distance between the bead seat if they are 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 inside they will look similar to those on the 16 Auto I posted. Kelly 1,030 #11 Posted August 23, 2013 Your tractor has the narrow rims, YES the 4x8 tires will fit, unless the rims have been changed all WH had the narrow rims prior to 75 or
Kelly 1,030 #12 Posted August 23, 2013 your rims should look like this one but not as rusty, they are about 3 3/4" wide this one has a 16x6.50x8 tire on it. this is the newer wide rim, it is about 5 3/8" wide it also has a 16x6.50x8 tire on it, the 4x8 tires will NOT work very well on these rims. I'm 100% sure yours has the narrow rims, unless they have been changed

Yes thats what I used on mine. As said my rims are approx 3 3/4 wide between the bead seats. If you have the later wider rims it will flatten out the ribs. js5020 111 #14 Posted August 23, 2013 I will do that , probably Sunday , now for those rears . . . I got all 4 tires at the same time, 2 of the 4x8 Deestone tri ribs for the front and 2 of the 23x8.50x12 bar tires for the rear, even with shipping they were less than 200. I probably could have gone with 23x10.50x12s but I want to dig in and not float. I figure either would have worked with the 7" wide rear rims.
