Ed Kennell 38,020 #1 Posted August 20, 2013 Getting ready to fire up the '78 C-101 that I am redoing. I have 3 switches. One is a # 108991. This is a 6 lug switch. The other two are 5 lug INDAK's with only patten #s 2868906. Will either of these switches work on the 101??

One of the terminals should be identified with the letter M. The C-101 originally had battery ignition and uses switch 103990. This one should have a terminal identified with an I for ignition. Ed Kennell 38,020 #3 Posted August 20, 2013 Thanks Garry, the 8 is probably a 3. Any idea what the INDAK's with no part # would fit ? I will get a 103990 as the 101 is still battery ign.
littlemowerman66 0 #4 Posted August 20, 2013 if the ignition will fit in the hole, it will work just fine the tractor only uses 3 of the terminals anyway the extra terminals just confuse you, just double wire terminals that don't go anywhere

littlemowerman66 0 #6 Posted August 20, 2013 yes some are for lights some are for safety switches whitch most older tractors don't use and the terminals that are used are usually double wire terminals whitch serve dual purpose that usually leaves 2 or thhee that aren't used not a pro thanks
Jeff-C175 7,199 #7 Posted August 20, 2013 I think SOI is taking a well deserved nap... Sorry Little but what you are saying is just not the right thing to do. Of course one could hack and jury rig the wiring ... but WHY? Just get the correct switch and install it! None of the terminals on iggy switches for these machines are "double wire terminals whitch serve dual purpose" Here is a link to the wiring on that machine:
Ed Kennell 38,020 #8 Posted August 20, 2013 Thanks Jeff, just thought SOI would be best qualified to explain ign. switch. differences to LITTLE, but the rodent must have started an early hibernation.

Save Old Iron 1,566 #10 Posted August 21, 2013 103990 is the correct switch for a coil based ignition engine. I'm not sure about any of the other possible variations but for less than $15, 103990 is a sure bet.
