I've been bitten like the rest of you guys. I was looking for the cheapest riding mower I could find on Craigslist that would pull a small trailer to and from the garden. I ended up finding a 1982 b-115 automatic with a 42" rear discharge and a single stage snowblower. The PO had it with the deck not cutting good and bought a new riding mower. His asking price was 175. I gave him 200 and he gave me 40 in change. $160 to not have to drag tools to the garden was worth it to me.

For ha ha's I looked at the deck, and the belt was improperly mounted on the pullys, and was the wrong size. It now cuts perfectly, but struggled up hills. I adjusted the drive pullys and installed a new belt there too. That made it like new again.

My 9 yo daughter could drive it being that it was hydro, and she enjoyed the heck out of doing so. After much research, and finding out about the quality, and history of the brand, I decided to get a small model as a project for the two of us to work on together.

After cruising CL, I found 1974 a-800. It needs a full restoration, but we have years to do it (she can "play" with the b-115 for the time being).

I figured having a parts motor just in case would be worth it, so a 211-3 joined the other two. It came with a side discharge deck.

Jump ahead, a 1976 c-160 automatic popped up on CL near me, so I had to grab it. I feel like I stole it at $250. 100% original minus the hour guage. Came with 36 rototiller, 37" (I think) snow blade, 37" snowblower and 48" side discharge deck.

Figured i would say hi, and thank you for the things ive learned so farI will start up some of my own threads about each of the classic ones (the 211-3 won't be in one priece for long).

Here is a video of the c-160 running after replacing the fuel lines, filter, and pump.

Thanks!

Thanks guys. The c-160 was definitely the most worthy and versatile! The others are the wheel horse's vertical shafted red headed step children. :-)
