why do these grow on us?

Pullstart

I picked up my 502 because it's a cool looking old solid tractor that my daughters can help me work on and the quality is there.  Looking around I didn't have much interest in any other style, the round hood pull start is where it was at for this guy.

now I find myself looking at craigslist every day - ok, many times a day...  looking through eBay and hoping for something to show up in my yard like a stork had no other place to put it...

There's an 875 that's been on cl among many other fine looking machines and that tall square hood is starting to look pretty slick too!  AHHHHH!

There are those times that I'm glad I have no amounts of cash on me and a smarter more sensible wife to answer to, but I want 'em all, can't ride them all at once though.

Red Square is a culture of collecting.  The tractors are affordable and there seems always to be one better somewhere.  Because there are a lot of good tractors to choose from.  It's fun.  Buy and sell.  Learn about different styles.  After owning 10 tractors I have 4 left.  After buying and selling I have broken even with 4 tractors left.   Best advice someone said to me was "Only pay for a tractor what you can sell it for." You won't loose money.

There are several threads already existing on the subject of favorites. Do a quick search and you will find that several models do seem to come up more frequently than others. Try searching "Top 5 tractors" for example.

I think what it all comes down to is, FUN! If you read the old advertisements from Wheel Horse from way back in the day the one word that is often repeated in their ads is FUN. I think the Ponds were onto something and they didn't even realize it. I have owned many other brands thru the yrs. but none of them were half the fun as Wheel Horse. Its not even just the tractors themselves, it is also the crowd of people that collect Wheel Horse's. I'm having a good time and enjoying myself, that is why I'm here too stay.

953 nut

:text-goodpost:   The day we picked up our first :wh:  the seller asked how many we had. My wife asked if they were addictive, he assured her that they weren't, he lied!  :ROTF:   :text-lol:

We now have nine of them, all the way from a 1957 RJ-35 to a 1970 GT-14 (as well as a few other brands ) and love them all. :help: , I'm hooked!

I must say the 953 is my favorate, very tough and comfortable, but I feel proud of all of them.

For me, it was pretty much this website and learning so much about the brand. I didn't even know what a wheel horse was until I bought my first.
