rmaynard 15,425 #1 Posted August 13, 2013 This little guy found it's way onto my trailer and followed me home this evening. It's a 1-8755, 1970 Lawn Ranger. Pretty sad shape. Doesn't run. Needs a lot of help. Anyone with spare parts, especially body and trim, please feel free to PM me.

rmaynard 15,425 #5 Posted August 13, 2013 (edited) Bob, What are your plans for that one? I don't think it will become a show queen, but if I can get it running, it will make a nice toy for the grandsons. Edit: or maybe a Birthday Party tractor. Marv 919 #8 Posted August 14, 2013 Re-did one of those years ago. Turned out nice. Sold it to a lady to mow her yard. Now I wish I had pictures. Oh well live and learn. Marvin

rmaynard 15,425 #13 Posted August 15, 2013 Started taking the Ranger apart today. It has been sitting for at least 20 years. First thing I did was to pull the engine tins off to remove a mouse nest that had been there probably since the tractor was parked. The aluminum fins of the cylinder and head are quite corroded, and after pulling the head, I found that the piston was in the bottom position, and water had gotten into the cylinder. What a mess. I took the carburetor is off and it is soaking in Berrymans. After 24 hours I will determine if it is salvagable. I'm not hold out much hope for this one. But here is the curious thing. I am not a Tecumseh guy, and numbers mean nothing to me at this point. The manual for this tractor says that it should be equipped with a V80 engine. However, the tag on the engine says SBV-355 1096F. So I am assuming that this is a short block replacement. Can any of you techy guys tell me what I've got, and if I need parts, for what engine should I be ordering?
