Measurements Please

Recommended Posts

KC9KAS

I need some measurement for the shelf/base (what ever you want to call it) that the fuel tank sits on for a 654. I thought I saw the same type set-up on a Lawn Ranger, but don't know the year.

I have attached a drawing of this piece (that was removed on mine by a PO).

The end that is inside the hood stand may be slightly narrower than the end where the tank sits.

Any/All information will be helpful.

PM me for any additional information.

Thanks in advance.

A&B=5"

C=10"

D rear, side edges=1.25"

D front return flange with strap mount hole=1.25"

D front, side edges=.500"

These numbers are the best I can do. With the tractor assembled, it's a tight spot to measure inside there!

ducethree, thank you for the info.

I think you are telling me that the mount is 5" X 10".

Both sides have metal bent at 90* and the metal is 1.25" on the rear, and taper to 0.5" on the front.

There is also a bent piece on the front (that I didn't have on the drawing) that extends down 1.25"

I did see a drawing in the manuals that helped along with your information.

Now, how much of the plate sticks out from the hood stand, and is it level or angled up?

I'm just full of questions, aren't I!

It looks like the plate is touching the back side of the hood stand or "dash panel". I don't have an accurate way of measuring the angle, but the plate is approximately half an inch higher in the front. Also, it does look like you understood the "method to my madness" dimensionally speaking!

Yah get yer mind out the gutter @AMC RULES So I have this 1855 snapper in other brands classifieds  and  a guy off  CL bites. Said he has this and  willing to trade. I'm at 750 on the Snapper and thinking 100 against for a who knows what Techy? @Achto  thinks it might be a 654 but thought I would run this by the Pros. Gotta admit it might have that nice barn find patina?

I'm thinking of re-powering my 654 with a predator 6.5 hp. Does anyone know if it fits without major modifications? I'd rather not cut the hood or anything else if possible.

Thought I'd start a thread of my 654,, the history is ,, my granddad bought it new in 1964, I was born in 1965,  I rode in it as a baby,, I started driving it when I was 5 or 6,, couldnt operate the clutch/brake but I drove it around the big yard for years and years,, taking terns with my cousins,
When I was 16, I was given the tractor,, we switched the motor sometime around then, I left for the military at 19 and my dad sold it to a neighbor, he didn't take the hood so it was lost,, he says he never used it.
its sat outside since, I picked it up today and started a tear down.

the front tires split at the sight of the air hose but the back tires are holding 25 lbs

hope it's ok to post here!  If not,, will do something else! Thanks
