mjeff278 4 #1 Posted August 8, 2013 I just bought a wheel horse C175, it is hydro drive and lift. My question is it normal to have to hold the forward rod to keep going forward or is there a way to set it at a speed you want and let it go? I have always had manual trans and never a hydro.
bubbacola 8 #2 Posted August 8, 2013 Friction plate under seat. You shown see a nut.. tighten til it holds the position you want.
mjeff278 4 #3 Posted August 8, 2013 that will allow for not holding the lever forward all the time?
Hodge71 664 #4 Posted August 8, 2013 (edited) Yes....when its too loose the speed control with either move all the way forward or return to neutral. Tighten the nut on the friction plate in small increments and then go for a ride and repeat the process until you get the results you need. The motion control level will stay where you put it then.....cruise control.... Edited August 9, 2013 by hodge71

groundhog47 347 #6 Posted August 8, 2013 to , very clean unit, don't know the autos, just stopped to say welcome! Great place, full of knowledgeable folks on all aspects of WH
SousaKerry 502 #7 Posted August 8, 2013 Tip up the seat and you will see a hole in the fender pan just forward of the gas tank filler. Download your manual here instructions and pictures are in the manual. Be carefull with that motor it has a bad history of blowing rods through the side of the case. Keep the oil topped off and stay off the hills. Unless the motor was replaced with a KT-17 series II nice clean looking unit and a really nice looking deck

SousaKerry 502 #17 Posted August 9, 2013 to look up the year of your motor go to the Kohler website and you can enter the spec and serial numbers off the engine to find out what it came from and when it was made. I think the series II came out in the mid to late 80's
