Bent bracket

The E clip that holds the shaft that supports the front axle fell off on my Raider 14. When this happened the bracket that holds the shaft bent toward the back of the tractor.The shaft does not slide far enough foward so I can replace the E clip.The front axle has too much play and slides front to rear on the shaft. How do I bend the bracket into the proper position?

I think you're going to have to drive out that shaft and replace it. I've seen many broken worn thru or bent.,The shaft has a tab welded on the back side to hold it in place and the weld usually breaks.

Sounds like you need to remove the axle and bend the frame brackets back in shape, I'm guessing the rear bracket is bent backwards, with the pin sliding back, Squonk is right probably the pin needs to be replaced, most do anyway, people don't grease that point often enough.

What is the best way to bend the frame bracket back in place without doing any more dammage?

Try a heavy c clamp or ratchet clamp, if I'm following what yer sayin', it's the slot the axel goes up in or saddle that sits on axel. Best to place axel back in place and start the pull if clamp will fit that way. Keep in mind that the unbent (front)portion may try to move also.

Block of wood and a big hammer, keep test fitting the axle till it fits good.

BFH and a hissing wrench   if ya have one, if not a bigger BFH

 

Just be careful with that torch around the bottom of the engine
