Took the maiden voyage today. Interior is not finished but I was able to get this one floating and the motor ran so smooth!! I even got momma to come with me and the boy.

That looks pretty sharp Steve. C'mon now and get that 18 hp finished! I think I'm gonna hit the lake mid day tomm. It would be nice to sit back, do a little cruisin and fishin without all the busy weekend lake chop.

So.... after driving Ken's boat with the 40hp motor on it I had to have one. He gave me a lead on this bad boy (same seller he got his motor from). From my understanding it is a 1960 Evinrude Lark (40hp). If is in very good shape. PO told me it may have been in storage for close to 40 years. I got it home and gave it a good bath. It will need a complete tune up (coils, condensers, points, water pump and maybe a carb kit). I hope to get started on that and have it running soon. My son is real happy to know that he will be able to go skiing and tubing behind it.

Good deal, looks like you'll need a prop also. Did you get an electric start harness with it? It looks as though you are becoming quite the collector...

Yes he had a complete harness with box and all. Only thing I need is a key switch and battery

Working on it right now.

When you change the water pump... That motor has a thermostat so it won't spray water out of the tell tale until the stat has opened. (usually around 140 degrees) I use a Raytek so that I know how warm the motor is while first running it after replacing a pump on one of them. That is way too nice of a motor to over heat. I''m glad you saved me from having to buy that motor as well, I like to have a backup motor in stock...I'm still searching for a 60 hp Merc..

Not racin? I don't blame ya. Your boat is to nice of an original to pound to death. Its hammer time when you step foot into my boat though!
