Bought my first tractor... A Wheel Horse!

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody,

Just bought my first tractor, at first I was looking at the green ones and then a few friends suggested I check out a wheel horse and after looking at a couple I bought one!  It's a 1998 312-8 with approx ~700 hours on it.  The guy I bought it off was real knowledgeable about these tractors and was actually the one who pointed me to these forums.  I'm glad I made the choice to get a wheel horse after looking it over I know it's going to be a long lasting machine.  Anyways here's a couple pics of the tractor and my 1 and a 1/2 year old getting some seat time!

Thats a very nice 312! I think the 12hp Kohler and the 8 speed tranny is the best combination of power and fuel economy there is.

:WRS:   My 312-8 is from '86 and has a bunch of hours on it; you just need to lube oil and do an ocasional belt and battery replacement. Like all :wh:  they were built to last. I have never had to do any major repairs on it. Glad to see your son geting seat time too.  :text-coolphotos:

Hey that's a nice tractor! Looks like a 42 inch rear discharge deck too - one of my favorites.

Good luck,

Bill

Bill,

You're correct that is a 42" RD deck.  I haven't had a chance to mow with it yet, hopefully this weekend.  My next attachment is going to be a blower for the winter, how can I tell which ones will fit my tractor when I'm on craigslist hunting?

Nice thing about the Wheelhorse is if you buy implements from, say 1974ish up to the end and they are for the C series (some B series), 300, 400 and 500 series tractors, they should all fit - including snowblowers.

Someone correct me if I've things a bit confused.

Good luck,

Bill

Welcome to RS> We all know why you got that little one on the horse already... In about 6 more years, you will be sitting back watching, while he does the mowing.... Nice looking 312.
