I have a 90-1140 tranny that only puts out 50psi. I see a 90-1136 pump on CL for 75$ .  I would buy the pump if they are interchangeable.  Looking at the WH by Years chart, the 1136 was used on the 1973 10 and 12 hp and the 1140 on the  1974,5 16hp autos

I saw the same ad and wondered the same thing?!? and if so, was $75 a great or average price?

Buying a pump that you can't see work and/or test is a huge stab in the dark.  i have bought several Sundstrands some of which "Came from a good working tractor"...yeah right.  That tractor must have limped into the boneyard based on the condition of the pump when I opened them up.

I would open mine up first and see what the problem was.  Some parts are available new and you can re- finish valve plates and slippers....

$75b would be at the high end of what I would pay to get a parts pump...and that is what you might wind up with.

I agree buying any used pump would be risky, but I would still like to know if they are interchangeable.  Guess I need to open the 1140 and see if I can find the problem.

I am not familiar with all the Sundstrand model #s.  However I have found the innards of the pumps to be pretty much the same.  You may have to swap out the pump shaft and the linkages.
