Opinions wanted on this C100

we dont have as big a pool to fish from as horse rustlers up north have

Jay,

can't believe no one thought of this. why not let this young man pick out his first tractor from the herd. what could be better than helping out a beginner with a tractor that you knew was mechanically sound, making his new found hobby a positive experience.

Bean,

Jay AND Van offered excellent tractors to me already (including that C125 that really got me thinking hard).

From what I have read here, it seems like there is not too many items that will be really costly, and unless those bearings are shot, I think I could be terrorizing the neighborhood for under 100 bucks (not counting purchase price).

Can y'all sense my confidence growing?  :happy-jumpgreen:

you should document your work, along the way. lots of pics.  you will have the advantage of having resident experts along the way.

My C100 has the matching Goodyear front tire!  I paid $175.00 for mine, with a stuck valve. The valve job turned into a complete rebuild, .020 bore job and turned crankshaft. Now with the new belts, carb kit, etc., I have a "new" C100. I am happy.

Friday I borrowed a truck from work, bought some ramps Friday night from Northern Tools, and today I went and picked it up! So as of 6:00pm, I am now officially a Wheel Horse owner! Woo hoo!!

There's a horse in the bed!

Of course it started raining about 2 miles from the house. Here in NC it has rained just about every day for the past month. It was pretty difficult to load. The 6' ramps made it difficult to push up, andthen the deck got stuck on the tail gate. I had to lift the rear of the tractor up and shove it in. I should have taken the deck off, that would have made it much easier. Live and learn...

Got it unloaded pretty easily and didn't get the company truck stuck in the yard!

nice,

looking forward to the updates. you'll know the machine inside out by the time you finish.

I know what you are saying about the rain. my sister In law lives in Greeneville sc, and it has been raining this entire summer

me, I am still looking for a commando 800 to restore. :techie-ebay:

Thanks guys. I am really looking forward to working with it. I'm going to be pretty busy this week, but when I start working on it, I'll start a new thread with plenty of pictures.

I can't believe how solid the thing is. When I had to lift the back of the tractor up in order to get it into the back of the truck I thought I was going to strain a jiblit. Also, I was also afraid that pushing it up the ramp by the dash was going to crack the dash, but it never moved the whole time I was pushing on it. It is obviously a very well built machine.

I really appreciate all the encouragment and help so far!

James

Thanks Chris! I appreciate the PM's as well.

I think I am going to rebuild the carb this weekend and replace at least 1 of the tie rods. I discovered a Toro dealer on my way to work, so that is a good thing.

He doesn't even have a Horse yet and he has the affliction. :laughing-rofl:  This will be interesting to say the least.

Well I didn't get to the second page before I made this post. Now you have started down the road that never seems to end!
