I got home from work today with a little extra energy so I decided to do a little work on my son Coles Burban. Since I can't find any of them NOS blue electric start motors I decided too fab up my own.  Just as I was gettin started and tryin to come up with some idea's I glanced up at my work bench and there it was.... the hell with puttin electric start on a k91 that is a little tired. On went this k181 with electric start. All it took was four new holes and a few other mods and that is it. No hood hackin etc. Its a tight fit but it fits and nothing hits. I should be blastin around tomm with it if all goes as planned. Once any bugs are worked out I'll pull it off and paint it up.

I've been running a 3 inch rear pulley on it this summer and its just fast enough, I don't feel like tearing it up. I'm going to have to come up with an idea for a belt guard as this one will have to be modified and I'd rather not do that to this guard, I don't want too mislead anyone here, there are lots of little mods that need to be done with this swap, no rocket science, just time consuming. I have at least an hr and a half into just the air cleaner housing mod....I did fire it up tonight but I don't think it will be driveable till Friday at the earliest.

Well Steve, we are both wrong! I got it to the point tonight where I could take it for a burn down the road. It no doubt has more giddy up. I nailed it a few times and managed to cook the belt. The exhaust is the same exact setup I had on it before with the K91. It doesn't rack off like before and quite simply, it don't sound as good now! I may come up with something else that might have a better sound...Trial and error. I still have to take care of a few odds and ends, longer battery cable, battery hold down etc. How nice it is to sit on a nut roaster and turn the key. With all that said.... Well lookee, its # 3000 for me!

ken-Congrats on 3000 posts !! Always a interesting read for sure. The tractor looks awesome. I have a new muffler "Stack" you are welcome to try. Maybe run that under the tractor?

I think a 16 would really take some cuttin to get it too fit and this Burban is probably to nice to do that to. I might bring up the idea to Cole of puttin stock tires (snow treads) and rims back on, I always liked the sleeper look!

The plan all along was to get the engine on, fabbing done, test drive and then pull the engine back off and paint it. I pulled it last night and painted the block at home. I took the tins to work and painted them with my hvlp with Resto Series. I got home from work today and had it all done within a few hrs. Cole finally got to take his test drive and he's diggin it! What does he like about it the most? Electric start! I used a belt guard off a tractor I got from Vin, I modded it too fit this engine until i have time to make a new cover from scratch to look more like the original cover. I also redesigned my foot throttle from the one previous. Its done! (for now)
