Quick Tire & Wheel Swap

Recommended Posts

Vinylguy

I came to the shop this morning with good intentions to get some work done and a head start on Mondays list,  but of course

I walked out to the shop and decided it would be a good day to swap wheels & tires from one of  my newly acquired 416-H tractors

with my 520-H before getting to work in sign shop. Shouldn't take to long right? Wrong!!! The recently new turf saver tires on the 416 were full of water. I don't live in the mountains so

I decided to pull the valve core and drain the liquid before putting them on the 520. Needless to say that was fun, NOT!!

Finally got them swapped and decided to swap seats also. The 416 had a nice seat with no tears. six armrest bolts and of course one was rounded out

so another hour messing with the NOT SO EASY OUTS. Finally got that swap completed about 1 pm so I decide to swap decks also. This was a bit easier

and now I have a 42 inch SD on my 520 and the 36 RD is on the 416-H. Next step was to make sure the deck on the 416-H worked like it should

but before going to mow I checked the oil level. To my surprise It showed way over full with fresh oil? Previous Owner said he had it serviced

across the street from his house as he always does. I drained out about a pint and checked again. Still over the full mark so I drained a little more and it is now

at the proper level. I had run this machine for about ten minutes when I got it home and didnt notice it smoking but still I don't feel right about it.

As most of you know I bought 2 416's from this guy and he swore there was nothing wrong with them at all. Now I find that the one that runs is in need of a

good carb cleaning or a kit as the choke needs to be on just a bit for it to run smooth. I do not find any indication of blown seals and it seems to be fine right now.

I mowed about 10 minutes with it and it did a great job but I for sure feel that he misrepresented both tractors. Rookie mistake for not checking all this out before

making the purchase. I am a trusting person and he seemed very honest but it is business and if you are selling something you should be 100% honest about

the tractor your selling. My intentions were to swap out the deck seat and tirse from one and get the other running and then sell the 2 416's for a fair price.

Have some fun and acquire a snow blower, bigger better deck, newer tires and a nicer seat for my 520. But it is never as easy as you think.

Here are a few pictures after the swap. The 416-H has nicer skins than my 520 but hoping to completely restore it this winter.

So it is now 5:30 pm Central and I am posting on RS instead of doing some artwork for jobs.

But I did get some quality time with my Horses.  :woohoo:

You will have many more days like that. Start out with something that should be simple and the next thing you know it's supper time. Happens to all of us from time to time but what a way to spend your days. :music-singing::dance:

Humm, play with your tractors...or work...what did you think was gonna happen silly?

Happens to me all the time...actually, just took one to work with me this past Friday.

Killed two birds with one stone that day.   :handgestures-thumbsup:

Remember there are truly worst days than that and when NOTHING is accomplished! I know you just recovered from that with your printing machinery! Good days ahead!

Well what do you know? After doing the swap I parked the 416-H back out front of the shop and

sold it Monday morning for $50 less than I paid. So I got a new set of tire, seat and bigger better deck for $50

I will be delivering it about 4 miles away in the next town this morning. Some times things just work out OK.
