prondzy 3,881 #1 Posted July 28, 2013 Well after doing the usual CL, fleabay, and RS checks after work this week I ran across this little gem on CL. I talked to the lady and we hashed out a price, and I told her I could be up there Friday night after work. So Friday comes along so my father (shynon) and I are getting ready for the 3 hr round trip drive. The lady calls me and tells me that she will not be there when I show up but the tractor was sitting in the yard and to leave the money in a disclosed location (pretty trust worthy). She also told me she had another mower in the backyard to take a look (just a 15-42 toro/Wh) While back there I spotted another tarp with a pull start showing. I called her and she said to take a look it was a tiller they were trying to get rid of, I pulled off the cover to find a Troy-bilt tiller with a 7 hp kohler that pulled over! Naturally I told her that I would take it too seeing how that motor would work well for another project. We loaded them up and drove home. Here she is a 953 with mower deck and push blade. I couldn't believe that I found one in my own backyard (for some reason desirable WH hard to find in MN), I pulled the head to find the usual carbon and a stuck valve. Just hoping to get her running and driving for now and then finding the few missing/ broken items i.e grill, a nicer steering wheel just misc pieces.

prondzy 3,881 #7 Posted July 31, 2013 Well after a little work I replaced the stuck valve, lapped both valves, found a bad fuel pump, threw in some new points, fresh gas and a battery and she runs like a top! Just have a rigged up auxilary fuel tank right now the original is full of old gas turned varnish. So far this one is off to a good start
