1979 d160 axle seal leaking

im looking for size or part number if any one has it and how hard are they to replace.

If in reading post your unit is 91-160501, Toro lists the seal as 6449. I too am concerned with a nontear down seal change on mine, and got seals at local bearing supply only to find I already had a pair in stash. Hopefully we'll both learn a in frame removal/replacement.

Thanks, I just flushed the the oil in the case due to some water getting in it due to a crack on the dipstick tube and now one seal is leaking. Its never a dull moment playing with the tracktor but I'd never give it up.

Good luck getting the hubs off they can be a real bear!!

 

Note how I bent the steel tubes I used to make the puller

got the hub off and learned to use the biggest gear puller you have because the small ones break.
