varosd 1,185 #1 Posted July 22, 2013 Switched out my K 181 1977 B-80 with the help of Ericj! after taking off the clutch plate: there is a 7/16 stud (43) in the end of the crank..how do I get that off/out? replacement cost:$37 bucks ??!!?? there is also a spring (part 44), thrust bearing (part 41)(caged bearings that went everywhere) 2 race thrusts (part 40) Looking at the PTO breakdown on my 88 520-H...it doesn't have these parts...was this on the older rigs only? Hodge71 664 #2 Posted July 22, 2013 Good Luck Don, I definitely know the sinking feeling when little parts go everywhere like your bearings did. I hope you were at least inside. Its worse when you're outside like I have to do when I work on my tractors. It gets disheartening trying to look for things in the grass or a stone driveway. Amanda 81 #3 Posted July 22, 2013 I used to always lose springs and tiny parts...learned my lesson....now my husband thinks im a freak with my zip lock baggies and labeling things
squonk 41,017 #4 Posted July 22, 2013 (edited) Throw the spring away. Not needed. It was used to help release the clutch. Same thing happened to me. No more springs for me Edited July 22, 2013 by squonk
Kelly 1,029 #5 Posted July 23, 2013 All those little parts are not needed, you could update it to the 520 style, as for getting the stud out, you don't need to, or vise grips, it should have a slot in the end for a screw driver.
