Pond Walk Away

Recommended Posts

jwl

Hello been lurking for a short while, then decided to join. Not sure if I put this in the right category, but I'm sure someone will fix it if its wrong.

Just finished restoring a 53' Pond walk away and its sickle mowing unit today. I'll try and post a picture here and see if that works. I'm a collector of mostly walk-behind tractors, so I wont be posting about any of the newer Wheel horse models,,,sorry.

I'm still looking for more info on my tractor. Maybe someone out there knows someone who has some brochures or other items that would show the attachments, available for them.

Thanks for your time. Jeff

Looks really nice! You can see all the attachments and read about them in the book straight from the horses mouth.

Thanks for the welcome. Two wheeled walk-behinds are my specialty. I only allow 59-65 David Bradley's to be my 4 wheeled models.  I've been wanting a Pond/wheel horse since I got the first edition  of the book.

I did cheat a little on the restore, by using the bigger hp of a model 8 briggs. You cant tell the difference  between the 6 and the 8 on the outside, its that hidden 1/4" bigger piston that give you the extra 1/2"horse.  I like the looks of the PT-25 with the larger tires, so i'll have to get more spies out and round up one of those. Does anyone know if there are any  models still left that represents the PT30 and PT35 tractors? Be cool to have a whole set of them.

I was also wondering if anyone here owned both the old book and the new printing, and if there was enough good info in the newer one about the walking tractors. I really hate to spend $60 to find out I already have all the same info. Without sounding offensive, I don't have any plans to collect Wheel Horses past the 1956 walking models, so the riding info would really be wasted here.  I would like to talk with some of you who have the Walk Away tractors, but I would probably like to do it in PM's.
