illinilefttackle 399 #1 Posted August 20, 2008 B) Hey Guys! I ran across this when I was working on the horse this weekend. I was trying to find a safe way to hold the flywheel so I could put 50 LBS torque on the flywheel nut- SO- I engaged the PTO and put a strap wrench on one of the pulley slots-seemed work good until I started to reach 50LBS-then the clutch slipped. It seemed like it should be tighter-WELL-To solve the problem-I vise-gripped the clutch dise to the pulley-that worked. BUT- I tried to tighten the clutch adjustment-but then it dragged, I ended up getting it about 2 turns tighter. Is this enough force? Teddy da Bear 11 #2 Posted August 20, 2008 Wow Al, I think this situation has a few variables. Condition of the clutch disc is one. What I have done is fit a 1x2 in between the fins of the flywheel and then tighten. Yes I know that they are aluminum fins. But 50lbs. of tork is not very much pressure. I think you need back it off to see if it slips under load. If so, and you cannot adjust it out then the clutch is probably shot.
