Found: C-121 and 2 C-81s Approx. Value?

Recommended Posts

I found these tractors at a old ladys house, they've been sitting outside for probably a long time, but all of the engines turn over, and all of the transmissions and clutches work like they should, except the 12hp tractors engine feels a little tight. They all are completely intact, and everything is there, exept the seats are going to need redone, the paint is not very good at all, and most of the tires hold air but are cracked. there are 2 mower decks, front push blade, and wheel horse trailer in the line of attachments.

I'm just wondering what the value would be right now, the value if i could get them running, and the restored value? Also what price would be appropriate to buy these at?

I have a C81 and i love it, I'm looking to expand the collection of this is a good move to make. Any help would be greatly appriciated, I am new to this forum.

They are not worth much in my opinion in that kind of state of condition. Running changes the ball game all together, and restored is another story yet. eBay is a good place to see what people are willing to pay. Look up some similar models in various condition and watch what they bring, then you will know. People tend to pay more on eBay than on Craigslist or other classifieds sites I have noticed. From your description I would only pay $150 - $250 for everything..other guys I am sure would be willing to pay more, maybe a lot more...and some not willing to pay what I would. Without pictures its really hard to say..I have a C-81 also and love it :)

Just my opinion, others will chim in shortly I am sure who buy and sell a lot more of these things than I do...but, in that kind of condition still BUT each one running good and reliably I would say each one should be worth between $250 - $350 tops...and once the seats are replaced, tractors cleaned up some and mowing decks and things all working well, they should be worth between $400 - $600 each. This is just my guesstimation. Also, I am basing this off if you were to try and buy or sell each one individually.

I will also add that there is a guy who has two C-121 hydro tractors for sale all summer long near me. They have sat outside forever and look like it too. One supposedly runs, which I doubt from the way it looks, and the other don't run and has no compression when I spun the engine by hand. He has a good 42 inch deck, wheel weights for one, two sets of tire chains, and a push blade. He is asking $500 or best offer and they have sat there for a long time on a pretty busy highway. In my opinion he is asking about twice as much as what he would realistically get for them. They look pretty bad, are covered in filth, and have had a hard life.

I agree on the value being low - you can really open a can of worms on this kind of deal, or,,(less likely) get a real find.

I recently bought a 1054 in similar condition you are describing for $250 that I should have only paid maybe a $100 for - sitting out for some period of time, non running, not even able to try as a roller. I based my decision on the price because it was same owner after 1st year and it was in surprisingly original condition - but .... it was a mess, bad worse rust than it appeared, while engine turned over, it needed a rebuild, parts worn out all over - it was a LOT of work and expense

I think $150 sounds pretty safe from your description and sight unseen. They are worth a lot more parted out unfortunately then in the state they are in. I don't see how you can loose at all for $150.

The c121 had the gas tank under the fender pan. C120 had the gas tank where the battery is on the c121. Not sure what else is different besides decals.

You can't go wrong at $150 if you part some of it out , and keep what you can use. See my post " CL quick find"  for idea on prices.

If the weights are the cast iron ones, and WH, I would have paid him the $200 and had everything home by now, the weights IF WH cast ones are worth all of the $200 the rest is free, if the decks are in good shape, not counting paint, $100 each easy, I pay sight unseen $75 to 100 each for complete tractors, if the trailer is a WH one and in good to fair shape it's $50 to 150, offer the $150 but sounds like a fair deal at the asking price. pictures would help.

Looking to find a new home for my 84 (I think) C-145. It has a dump trailer with the enclosure for leaves, the PTO impeller to get the leafs into the trailer, the hoses for deck-to-impeller, impeller-to-trailer.

I haven’t run it in over a year.
The battery and the cable to the battery probably need to be replaced.
Comes with a new head gasket still in the bag.
Seat is cracked but still comfortable.

Happy to answer questions or take other pictures.

I’m looking for wheel horse tractors for sale or for parts in the Eastern Nebraska or western Iowa area. Preferably 8 speed manuals. Pm me or comment with what you have. The worst I could say is it’s out of my price or distance range. Edit: engine is not important, it’s going to get an engine swap.
      Thanks,
      John

Hello all. I am looking for suggestions on adapting the pto from my C series tractor to a harbor freight predator 420 13hp engine. I know the predator motors are a controversial topic however it is the route I have chosen for this particular machine. The intent was to mostly use it for plowing so no PTO required but it would be handy to have. Looking to hear from someone that has successfully done the swap that may offer any advice before I attempt to transfer it over. Just looking for any general pointers that will help me along the way to make it go as smoothly as possible.

1979 c-101 nice project tractor just needs a few odds and ends, steering wheel, coil, carburetor bowl, the wiring was redone by previous owner....all 4 tires are good and hold air it goes into all gears no problem, transmission fluid has been changed, 10hp Kohler, message me or call or txt with any questions, it does run and runs well,  it’s been kept inside since I’ve had it, I would also trade for a mid mount grader blade thanks
