47JDG 65 #5 Posted July 15, 2013 These are 23 x 10.5 x 12. They are 23 inches tall, 10.5 inches wide and 12 inch wheels. They are the same size that they put on a lot of 500 series tractors. These ones actually say "Sears" on them, and the guy said they came off of a wheel horse. I wonder if they came from a Sears Work Horse from the 80's? leeave96 487 #6 Posted July 15, 2013 I like the wider rear tires for a different reason. As I get older, the body don't flex like it use to. bean 85 #7 Posted July 15, 2013 I really like the commando 800/ '73 8hp 4spd. they are my favorite tractor. not sure why, but I would take one in nice condition over the rj and 854 that I had. I put 6-12 ags on mine and rj front tires on it. like you said, great size to jump on and go. plenty of power for pulling just about anything Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
47JDG 65 #8 Posted July 15, 2013 (edited) I really enjoy this tractor a lot as well. It steers like a dream. I can turn the wheel with one finger easily while moving. I really like the tight turning radius it has. I was going to use this tractor for another mowing tractor but the deck turned out to be pretty well shot once I looked at it, so I have just decided to use it for pulling things around and a fun toy. The deck didn't belong to this tractor, it was just included with the sale among other things. The deck certainly has a lot more use than this Commando has had. I don't need another mowing tractor anyways, so this one can just be dedicated for doing everything else. I have two other tractors for mowing and blowing snow anyways. I love the low fuel consumption the K181 has. I have rolled my lawn twice and drove it around a lot on just a couple good splashes of gas. Its also such a strong little durable engine its hard to not like them. Parts are cheap and abundant as well still. Being a short frame it don't take up much space either which means a lot to me as well. I really like the looks of it with its short frame, and C series features. For me personally I like the looks of this and the other C series tractors of the 70's the most of all the Wheel Horses. They just have a nice look to me, and are very tough, and overall just improved versions of the tractors of the 60's. I want to build another like it, but put in an 8speed. I am a huge fan of the 8hp kohler. IMG_1889.JPG those carlisles are great tires. looks great on your C I had a set in 20x10-8 on my old mower. better traction on wet grass than any other turf tires I have used. Picked up the Commando for [1] the blade, like new, and [2] the angle lever for the blade. I put a kind of shabby blade back on the Commando and welded an offset to the angle lever to use on my 416-8 worked great. Put the like new blade on the 416-8 too, nice. Never removed the blade frame from the Commando. Sold it very quickly just parking it street side. My Herd is all 12 inch donuts and I had a few mounted spares.
