My new 62 lawn ranger

Recommended Posts

Hi all,
A week or so ago I traded my dad my rj59 for this little ranger. It came in the lot of tractors he bought last fall and it was one of the tractors I really wanted that I knew he might not care about so much. It is the recoil start, wish it had electric.   I got it to run last night, I rebuilt the original carburetor for it, but could not get it to run without starting fluid, I ended up putting a carter model N on it and got it to start. I will put the original back on after I soak it in carb clean and then try it again.  It has an original wheel horse back rest on it which is kind of neat, I might end up stealing it for my 702, but will have to see if I like it on here. It came with a mower deck, but I took it off. I need to build an extension for the right side foot rest, its kind of hard to keep your foot on there when its only an inch or two long.  :)    Anyway...Here are pictures. ~ Jake

Thanks everyone! Craig, 62 was the first year for the ranger. This is probably a later 62, the earliest ones had solid rubber front tires.

Those aren't the original fronts, but 62 n 63 had solids up front. Think 63 is the same, I have one and love it. Put some 18" ags on the back and it's a mini tank....

Looks real solid!!!

I think keeping the orginial look is a great idea Jake! You got to remember, it took 50 years to get it to look like that, so why screw it up now??? LOL! :laughing-rofl: :laughing-rofl: :laughing-rofl:

Looks nice the way she is Jake. I think she'll be sad if you steal her back rest to put it on something else!

Nice one Jake! :handgestures-thumbupright: .   I agree, leave it as is.    I'm kinda starting to keep an eye out for a '64 ranger like I was telling you the other day...But i'm in no hurry...

Nice husky stance on that axel, like the way it looks like gonna jump. Mine has the flatter axel , more timid lookin. Ended up putting C-120 tires/wheels on it, looks much stronger. Know the hard core restorers will hit me hard for that!!!
