rmaynard 15,424 #1 Posted July 11, 2013 I was emailed pictures of a tractor this morning with the question, "what model Wheel Horse do I have"? Well, I could not answer. Here are the pictures that I was sent.
Wheel Horse Kid 105 #2 Posted July 11, 2013 Looks to be a modified Surburban to me, but maybe I am wrong. Whatever it is, I don't think it is original.
CasualObserver 3,408 #3 Posted July 11, 2013 (edited) what does he have?....The results of a clever individual. I really like that idea... front mounting a motor on a Suburban.... would help balance the tractor. It likely started life as a 1961 401. Hood stand is from 401. (The extra holes are not in the 1960 stand.) Clutch pedal is 1961 cast iron style. Trans is three piece and has holes at rear for auxiliary hitch. stevasaurus 22,701 #4 Posted July 11, 2013 Yep, I think Jason and the Kid hit the nail on the head. That is a #5010 suburban transmission.
Tankman 3,518 #5 Posted July 11, 2013 Who cares what it is? Doesn't matter. A Horse is a Horse of course! A fine customization! Looks great!
Jake Kuhn 1,554 #6 Posted July 11, 2013 Thats pretty neat! I would also agree that it once was a 401. Whatever it is, its cool!
Wheel Horse Kid 105 #7 Posted July 11, 2013 I do have to admit, the motor being in the front instead of between the legs is pretty cool!
AMC RULES 37,127 #8 Posted July 11, 2013 Whatever is was...it's definitely a piece of work now.

BPjunk 184 #10 Posted July 11, 2013 You can tell it was a 1961 model 401 by the 5010 UniDrive and the cast iron clutch/brake pedal and clutch arm. Wild Bill Richmond, VA.
