They are both Lawn Rangers, but I am not sure of the years. You will have to ask the Lawn Ranger experts about that. :)

The one of the right is a L-156. The one on the left just has the Serial plate, no model plate.

1964 Lawn Ranger I am no ranger expert but I believe it would be a 34E since it has electric start

I agree with the 64, with the wrong engine - it should have the h60

15871 looks like a 1964 serial number.

The Lawn Ranger in the top picture is a 1964 model  34 E with a 1962/63 steering wheel and a replacement engine block. A 1964 should have a two spoke steering wheel and a 3/4 pipe threaded exhaust system. The second Lawn Ranger is either a L-155 or L-156 that also has a replacement steering wheel, seat and the short block has been replaced with the bolt on exhaust system. A 1967 L-107/L-157 Lawn Ranger did not have the "Lawn Ranger" decal on the belt guard.

Both of these Lawn Rangers should have a data plate under the steering wheel on the hood stand and also used the Tecumseh H-60 aluminum block engine.

68 is the one without it.  That's the year with the long hood decal that said it.

OK let me clear this up, Wheel Horse stopped using the early belt guard (part #4962) with the indentation for the Lawn Ranger decal in 1967 and for 1968. This allowed the guard to be used on all the following models Lawn Ranger, 607, 657, Commando 6 and WORKHORSE 700. Now if you look at the parts manual for a L-107/157 you will see the belt guard does show the indentation with the Lawn Ranger decal and here is the reason why ... Wheel Horse used the same picture of the Lawn Ranger from 1965 to 1967 in their manuals, yes the tractor in the L-157 manual is really a L-155. In 1968 when the steering wheel was changed from a 2 spoke to a three spoke and a long hood decal with Lawn Ranger was applied the parts manual picture was changed.

Now did the person who was installing the Lawn Ranger decals  in 1966 have a few left over and put some on the early production 1967 Lawn Rangers, or maybe a dealer thought the decal would look better and put them on ..... then again the belt guard could have been changed on a few tractors.

I had a 67 ranger, but still have the belt guard, and it says lawn ranger and I think has the indentation. If it don't have the indentation, then my 63 does, can't run it on the tractor with current engine...
