1967 REO RR-47 VALUE

Recommended Posts

rmaynard

I have been in contact with someone who has this REO RR-47 that they are interested finding the value. It is all original, and has been garage kept since new. It needs a carburetor (or so the owner thinks).

Any thoughts on the value? Owner is thinking of selling.

I'd love to have it myself, but I just found out it is located in Rhode Island.

Tecumseh power, stamped metal tub.

I think value on one of those is truly dependent on how badly someone wants one in their collection and how long they're willing to look.  I gave $50 for mine which is the next model after that... the R-26..... and that was totally on a whim.  The guy caught me on a good day (for him) I guess.  It's just a novelty as far as Wheel Horse collecting goes.  They're just the assimilated REO riders with a Wheel Horse name on them.  It got put into my brother-in-law's four wheeled wagon and it's never come out that I know of!

I'd love to add one of those slightly older RR or RE models to the collection... but I wouldn't give more than that same $50.  And that's only because they look just a little more like a go-cart! :)

Just an update. The owner has placed the REO on eBay with a starting price of $600.00. I wished her good luck.

You can find the eBay auction by searching "vintage REO Wheel Horse".

Thanks for the pictures. It brought back some memories. I mowed lawns while in high school and the first riding mower I purchased was a Reo! It had a black and white seat, steering wheel, 2 speed high, low, plus reverse. I think it had a 6 h.p. techy.

My Dad used to have one of the eos with a steering wheel and lawn ranger style seat.. It was as rusty as you can imagine and motor barely pulled over. He sold it for $20 bucks just because we didn't want to look at it anymore! LOL
