Bluffhunter 37 #1 Posted July 1, 2013 Just in case anyone needs to know : I bought a replacement air filter & pre filter for my 16HP Kohler over the weekend. Pre-filter was Primeline #7-02287 to replace Kohler pre-filter 45-083-01. Wix air filter # 42299 Replaces Kohler filter 45-083-02. Both filters were purchased at O'Reilly Auto Parts for less than $20.00. They were a perfect fit so I hope they do as good of a job as the Kohler filters ! Fordiesel69 267 #2 Posted July 1, 2013 While on this subject......would a 16HP air filter increase the power of a 12HP engine allwoing it to breath better? Just curious.
groundhog47 347 #3 Posted July 2, 2013 I'll see if can fig a way to attach one will let you know Ford, they are a bit thicker as well as dia width as you prob already knew. Guess could just turn cover around for test if flat would fit on bak of air cleaner plate. Look as if would allow a leaner run from less restriction though. Don1977 604 #4 Posted July 4, 2013 All you need is a 1/4" coupling nut a short piece of 1/4" treaded rod, two 1/4" lock nut one for each side of the coupling nut. Iinstall the 16 HP filter the cover will like about 1" or so covering the filter.
