Vinylguy 4,674 #1 Posted June 30, 2013 Another Sunday morning and here I am in my shop trying to work on projects but find myself on the forum more than I should be. A while back it was suggested to me that the wood grain decals from the late sixties might look nice on a 3,4 or 500 series tractor. So this morning instead of focusing on sign customer projects I made a set of wood grain decals for the 520-H I acquired at the BIG SHOW. they are waiting for lamination right now and I am going to apply them later today. I will put them over the original decals just to see if I like the look. Hoping to refurbish the paint and find an exhaust shield for it this year. This image is just a photoshopped image and I will post a picture of the actual tractor when I get them installed.

AMC RULES 37,125 #3 Posted June 30, 2013 I like 'em... was always curious as to what decals with a background of textured gold leaf might look like too Terry. Just an idea.
Vinylguy 4,674 #4 Posted June 30, 2013 I like 'em... was always curious as to what decals with a background of textured gold leaf might look like too Terry. Just an idea. They would look very expensive but very cool. I may try that in the future. Maybe some carbon fiber? Cool, just like the Wagon Queen Family Truckster One of my all time favorite movies. Vinylguy 4,674 #10 Posted June 30, 2013 After quickly laying on the right side hood decal I applied the front hood and was not satisfied so I pulled it back off and wadded it up into a little ball and threw it in the trash. Started to make a new one but decided to test my heat gun theory. Pulled the little ball of vinyl out of the trash and began to carefully straighten it out. Not the easy part. Laid it out on the table and applied heat to it. Amazing how this material will shrink back to its original state with no creases after being rolled into a little ball. With that done I went back out and applied again just to see if it would lay down right. Here is the result. It's ok but I am now working on the carbon fiber look and will install them later today. Now that's bada$$ right there. I agree Craig. Hope to have a set put on later today

Vinylguy 4,674 #12 Posted June 30, 2013 Here is a quick video to show the properties of the wrap material I use for most of the graphics. Need to figure out how to embed videos so a thumbnail shows.
KC9KAS 4,741 #13 Posted June 30, 2013 Need to figure out how to embed videos so a thumbnail shows. Agreed....Right now NONE of my posts with photobucket photos can be seen because I have exceeded the free amount of space for the month. On July 9th, my month will start over again. Anytime someone goes to PB to look at a photo, it counts against my usage......
Martin 2,131 #14 Posted June 30, 2013 Hard to tell from the pic but is that the same carbon fiber we were messing around with for the large hood decal on my 1057? Your having a blast experimenting aren't you terry? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Vinylguy 4,674 #15 Posted June 30, 2013 Just got back in the shop after mowing with the wood grain graphics. Seems to mow better. Yes Martin that is the same but if I darken them up enough maybe I will like them. Good opportunity to give it a try though. I have come to the conclusion that I need a lawn sweep for my rear discharge deck. Love the cut but the windrow effect not so much. Now to tweek some graphics and warm up the printer. More photos to come.
AMC RULES 37,125 #16 Posted June 30, 2013 I bet it would mow even better still with gold leaf 's on carbon fiber decals.

Vinylguy 4,674 #18 Posted June 30, 2013 Took an hour longer than planned but it is done. The Carbon Fiber 520-H with gold leaf overlays. Use phone camera so pictures dont do it justice. I like this so it will stay this way for a while.

73-18 automatic 8 #22 Posted June 30, 2013 So the question are you going to produce the carbon fiber decals????
Vinylguy 4,674 #23 Posted June 30, 2013 So the question are you going to produce the carbon fiber decals???? Not with the gold leaf overlays as they are a giant PITA to weed the tiny logo details but yes using a printed Gold. Have some work to do first getting the 3 and 400 series templates set then I will list them.
"D"- Man 827 #24 Posted June 30, 2013 I agree with Mayhem'13 looks much better than factory. Nice work, Terry.
