I am ate up with baseball the way tractor collectors are ate up with Wheel Horse!  It's every bit as addictive as the tractor hobby is for me.  I have St Louis Cardinal items EVERYWHERE in the house and Jeep!  Any other baseball fanatics out in Red Square land??

Never been a Fanatic of any one baseball team.  But I have to say that  baseball is the funnest sport to watch :handgestures-thumbupright: .   When I get a chance I'll take my kids to see the Minnesota Twins at their new stadium a 3-4 times a year.

It would be cool to see a Cub/Cardinals game some day too!!  (with the Cardinals winning of course)

I saw a Cub-Cardinals game and it was back when Sosa and McGwire were hitting the bigs!  WOW!  They both hit homers at that game and I cried like a baby!!  lol!

I too like all baseball.  Earlier had on Reds-Rangers game, waiting for the Cards-A's to start up.  My kids know when the game is on b/c of all the hollering and cursing and carrying on that I do!  Oh lord.....I told you I am a die-hard!!

I have an old Toro that has been torn apart and painted red.  We are going to put it back and have it pimped out with Cardinals decals.  I have been waiting on it for a long time.  My buddy who is doing the work is a Gravely collector, age 17, and I like for him to take care of his own tractors before working on mine.  BUT i hope that SOON I'll have my St Louis Cardinals tractor!!  :)

AL team? Twins of course. NL team Brewers all the way. I missed my chance to see the Twins and Brewers at Target Field because we had an over-night concrete bridge deck pour for the light rail extension that goes past the stadium. That was Ironic. I was delivering concrete right next to the stadium I was supposed to be at :laughing-rofl: . The tickets were dugout box seats too. Sorry though. Never been a Cards fan. These are my 2 faves plus Anyone that beats the Yankees, Bo-Sox. And ANY CHICAGO ball club :teasing-poke: . I am also a closet Mets fan too :teasing-neener: .  :baseball:  :baseball:  :baseball:. And what about the Marlins this year? Redmond should get manager of the year IMO.

Kate, the Card's horse sounds great.  White Sox Fan here...have been since the 50's...Nellie Fox, Louis Aparisio, Jim Landis, Billy Pearsol and others.

I always kid that the Only Way the Cubs can beat the Cardinals...is to lose to the Mets.  How about a Falstaff...uh, er Bud? :)

I have been a Yankees fan for 35 yrs. now. I used to be a season ticket holder along the first base line.  I used to be a fanatic like yourself but sadly not to many guys that I know are into baseball. If I couldn't be at the game I used to tape the games, man would I get pretty steamed when someone told me who won before I watched it! I would often wake everyone up with all my hootin and hollering. I still catch a game every now and then and I always keep tabs on my team and all of the standings.  I also love to play baseball, when I was growing up in the 70's and 80's that is all we played after school, every day.  Sure do miss it!

I started out a Yankees fan in the mid 60's. With immortals like Horace Clarke, Tom Tresh, Roy White. jJoe Pepitone and Ronnie Bloomberg were my favorites. Of course the best part was listening to The Scooter Phil Rizzuto and Bill White in the booth.

Well our claim to baseball fame here in southern IN is Donnie Baseball (Mattingly.)  But I love all baseball.....love love love it!!!!  I will watch a game in any town, any state.  I had a reader call me one day and he said, "Kate, I love your magazine but as far as the Cardinals go, I hate their guts!"  Well, I was pretty stunned with that remark!  I talked with this guy for over an hour....his name, no joke, is Joseph DiMaggio!  This man was a walking almanac of baseball history...he's met all the bigs!  Old guy, been around a while, and very fascinating!  He is a die-hard Brewers fan, which is okay by me.  I hope to catch up to him and meet him one day!

I've heard that some mystery person owns a Panzer that was used in the Baltimore Orioles bullpen!  When they built the new stadium, they replaced it, so someone took it home.  Rumor has it that it's just sitting in the back yard of this individual!  The agony!!!  It's painted orange and black and has a blue engine.  What I wouldn't give to get my hands on that baby!

I'm not a fanatic, but I've always loved baseball, both playing and watching/listening.  It's the one sport I feel like I understand, not completely of course, but enough to still be able to learn new things every time I see a game.

My wife and (mostly) kids just got us all tickets to see the Phillies play the Braves here in Philly in August, can't wait!  Coincidentally, the last game I saw in person, Phillies beat the Braves.

We don't have cable here in our house (can you say dinosaur?), so lately I listen to the Phillies games on FM radio.  I like it, it's kind of a throwback to a slower time in our country's history, a very pleasant way to take in a game.  When I'm in the mountains of Virginia, I can usually pick up the same broadcast on their sister AM station.  Nice!

Anybody remember Dizzy Dean and Pee Wee Reese doing play-by-play commentaries on TV?  THAT was entertaining!

Go Phillies! 39-42 at the halfway point in the season, woohoo!

Major league Debut with Gibson throwing for the Twins tonight! Great Debut. Not holding my breath though. We really need an ace. Oh well. We have the M&M boys. So now we can't afford anyone else (not a big fan of those 2). I always hope the Pohlad's will loosen their pocketbooks a little. Watching Cuddy light em up elsewhere. Yeah, Baseball. As much as I love it? I can hate it just the same. tractorchick? You guys actually do have a good team in the Cards. But, you didn't hear that from me. And Saurus? I am not ever gonna be a Sox fan. But, I do have a cool story for ya. I was at a Twinkies vs. Sox game a year ago and I was in the dugout box seats over the Sox dugout so naturally I had rip on Pierzinzki every time he came up. I know he could hear me counting his steps when he struck out because he kept looking back at me, (he went 0 for 6 that night). Anyway, I had to get the next round and when I had just left my seat he laced a smoking foul ball right into my seat. Luckily I wasn't sitting there from what the people around me said. When he hit it? He just glared at where it went. I asked him to sign it when the game was over, he just looked at me, and turned and walked away. The Sox won that night but I didn't really care. Our new stadium is just awesome. Not a bad seat in the house. I don't care who wins when I go to the games there, the experience is worth it. But to be honest? I would go to a St.Paul Saints game before a major league game. They are just plain fun.

omg 6wheeler!!!! what a story!!!  Reminds me of that Seinfield episode where Kosmo Kramer gets hit by the spit!  lmao!!!

Hope to visit every stadium in the nation one day.....got a little start on that but always seem to end up at the Busch!  What can I say?  I hear the Pirates are now #1 in our league, and that's just baseball!  I don't care where my Cards rank...I love 'em!  My fireplace mantel (10 ft) is completely covered in Cardinals memorabilia and I also keep a little white christmas tree out year 'round covered in baseball ornaments!   I was in Minnesota last week and wish I could have caught a game....but we were at the Mayo, so no time for that.  Perhaps another time.

Well, I finally found this post again. And I shouted to the wrong member(sorry tractorgirl). Tractorchick, Sorry the Cards didn't pull it off. The BoSox suck (not really) but it was a good series. Some awesome plays were made. And every time David Ortiz hits a dinger? I wonder why the Twins traded him and just shake my head. Oh well, there is always the Vikings :laughing-rolling:  :teasing-tease:  :laughing-rolling:  :teasing-tease: . Thank goodness we have the LYNX or we may never see a championship.

Geez. This site has served as a distraction to get over the Birds' loss to the Sox. And now I have to "remember" because of this string. Oh well. Congrats to Boston. And "Go Birds, Beat the Cubs, Again".

As an aside. Got to go to game 5 Monday nite. Wasn't cheap, but wasn't "stupid money; ie $400 for standing room". If you can afford it and you get the chance it is worth it. My daughter, wife, and I will remember this outing for years to come.

Wow Kate you really got me going this time,We wouldn't know what to do around here without Baseball.

My wife and I supported the big red machine back in the 70s. Spent a lot of time at riverfrount stadium.

Our youngest daughter was bonkers over Pete Rose at that time. She is now just a couple years older than you Kate.

I remember one game we were parked on the second level and I can't stand traffic so we set there till every car was out except a nice little Porsche and while admiring this I noticed guess who walking toward it.Charlie Hussle himself. Our youngest at that time maybe 9 or 10 ran over and got Petes autograph and stood there and stood there

talking to him just like it was her uncle or something.I guess we found his secret way of avoiding the rush as well.

She has a whole room full of stuff now. Well we support the Rangers now since we moved to Texas

I have alway's been a casual Cards fan,but my grandfather was rabid. They lived in S.E. Mo and when we visited it was a sight to watch him if a game was on Tv.The reception was really poor,I think the signal came from about 100mi away.Grandpa had this giant antenna,it must have been 20 feet tall.It was connected to a box on top the tv with a dial, and when you turned the dial the ant rotated.Reception was really bad with snow and sometimes just ghost images, but gramps was glued to that set.

I remember Harry Caray, people were upset when the great Jack Buck took over, but he quickly won everyone over.

I don't go to many games, but one from a few years back sticks in my mind.It was a hot evening ,I don't even remember who was in town.I was sitting with a friend in the cheap seats. There was a guy sitting a few rows down, wearing some kind of cap,and I told my friend,"I know that guy from somewhere. The game went on and pretty soom people started going up to him and getting autographs. He was polite, and signed things for them. After they left,he turned around and apologized to us for the disturbance,Thats when I realized it was Bob Forsch. Classy guy,I always admired how he pitched, just a workman like demeanor, never the showman. Was really saddened when he passed on.

We don't need no stinkin RED SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :snooty::angry-nono:

Dave, Sorry to bring up the pain again. Hey, but going to a world series game is always worth it. Just the energy and excitement make it worth it. I went to an 87 world series game here in Mn, when the Twinkies made it the first time. And it cost a small fortune $225.00 (for me) at the time. It was worth every penny. Frankie V. was larger than life and El Gasolino ( Eddie Guardado) was well worth seeing. And for the Cards fans. Let by gones be by gones. Put Rose in the hall of fame, Period. I mean really? The White Sox threw a series. And that team is still here.(Don't anybody get mad, Its a fact). But, I also think. Any team that has to brag about what color their socks are in the team name? Should be beaten at every opportunity :ychain:  :ychain:  :ychain:  :ychain:  :ychain:
