Robins 26 #1 Posted June 27, 2013 Hi guys, Thought id share this quickly before going to work. I know how you like photos. Since fitting the new drive belt, wheelies have been a problem (much prefered over the slipping and loss of drive though) whilst in the hilly parts of the garden. And as the plan in the next few weeks is to put some chevron tyres and shift lots of mud with the trailer i wanted a solution. So here it is, a custom weight bar made from scrap and left overs i had around. Built over the past few nights after work, it is far from perfect, and needs more paint, but couldnt wait Ill tidy it up at a later date but just wanted to try it out and make sure its actually going to work before spending hours on it. First up i made a new engine mount as the original was aliuminium angle, then made a weight bracket. Then came the weight Made from a couple disc brakes, sheet of stainless, two turned oak caps and some ali handles. To be filled with sand. Designed so i can still open the bonnet without having to remove anything What do you think?
farmer 1,075 #2 Posted June 27, 2013 That should keep the front end planted, nice job too. Now you can go heavy hauling and get a workout at the same time, it also means you can take on ploughing and disc harrowing and tilling and .....

Robins 26 #6 Posted June 27, 2013 Now you come to mention it...it does! Thats not what i had in mind though, i was thinking more along the lines of a nice drum of Guinness for those long days in the field No idea what weight it is yet, got to fill with sand and weigh it. Will let you know. When Simon told me these things are addictive, i didnt believe him. But the ideas for attachments are buzzing!
Anglo Traction 761 #7 Posted June 27, 2013 I like the functionality it...does remind me of a gen set though. thats what I was thinking... it's crying out for a pulley on the end My distorted lateral thinking makes me wonder if it should be spinning backwards while you drive full pelt towards a large pond and see if you can bounce it across the water to a wall on the other side where it will sink and then explode
wheeledhorseman 574 #8 Posted June 30, 2013 My distorted lateral thinking combined with a bit of humour was thinking its a pity your tractor's not a Raider as I doubt any shutter door would be safe against this beast and Mark could I'm sure come up with 'Ram Raider 12' decals for it! Re Simon's warning - I'm sure it won't be long till you buy another horse or two as it's so much easier if you have several that are 'booted and suited' for different tasks. Only a matter of time as there's no known cure for 'horse bite'. Andy
Stigian 1,234 #9 Posted June 30, 2013 I love that you have used anything you had to hand to build the front weight... My kinda thinking I was just looking at your car list... a Morris 1000 van with a 2L turbo diesel fitted! What a great mix of old and new.. Bet it shifts a bit as well
