I have used JB Weld, but had better luck with POR15.  JB doesn't really like to stick to the fiberous material and POR15 soaks into it to make a pretty much permanent bond.

As for the material... I used a piece of leather from an old belt. It does the job nicely and is in your closet...no need to order it.

I would use a good 2 part epoxy and make sure both surfaces are clean ..... REAL CLEAN to make sure you get all the oil out from the pores in the band and brake lining.

I have reinstalled a lot of old type bands this way to keep the tractor original.

Bob , I think i read in another post that you install a rivet to keep the pad from slipping. What size rivet and where do you install it ?   :dunno:

Like Wild Bill says cleaning of the brake band housing is the most important step.  Use acetone or some other strong cleaner to remove all the oil residue, grease, dirt etc.   I used two part epoxy also and it has held up great.
