I just put a new head gasket on, changed the oil and cleaned the carb and cleaned the carbon out off the head. I had the engine running today and it was running pretty good, but it just needs a little carb adjusting but there was oil coming out of the crankcase breather. I made sure I didn't overfill the oil. The engine manual said to use 5w20 oil, but should I just use regular 30 instead if the weight of the oil is the problem?

Sometimes fresh new oil will vaporize out of the breather for a little bit then it will stop. I see nothing wrong with the 30W oil in it.  If oil continues running out of the breather continuously the rings are likely getting worn.

Just curious Where did you see the oil recommendation of 5w-20??

Never saw that for an H or HH60 even the sno-king versions were 5w-30 for winter.
