MarkPalmer 81 #76 Posted June 20, 2013 I had to mess around with some of the wiring on my Cub to convert it to the Honda also, but the results were nearly the same- it looks better under the hood than the original engine did, and well outshines it for overall performance. I really did want to install a Kohler KT 17 Series II to keep the Cub original, but couldn't locate a good used one at that time, and a new one was near $2000 where the Honda cost $1300. I've been more than happy with the Honda power. 7 seasons and I still don't think the engine spins around much more than once with the starter before it fires, and it runs like a car engine. -Mark-

mattd860 162 #83 Posted June 21, 2013 Matt, Did you hand deliver a foot control kit while you were checkin' out the Honda install... I actually did deliver one of my kits to him that day. Bob (Wheelbearing) invented the auto-return feature of my kit but our pedals & linkages differ greatly. He expressed interest in my setup because his two pedal setup slightly conflicts with the snow cab framing. Anyways, both of our designs make the 520H so much better to drive than the stupid lever on the steering column. And now that Bob has the Honda instead of the ticking-timebomb-Onan, he probably has the nicest 520H ever.

Red-Bovine 309 #88 Posted June 21, 2013 Checkout Repower Specialists in Oregon. The GX630 kit they have is very complete. I would ask them to subtract the muffler, though. I did not like the muffler they included. I would ask if they could omit it or substitute the VRM6 Honda Muffler kit. You need to cut the hood a bit, but not hard and looks nice. I will be posting more pics of mine once I get Matt's control on it and clean it up a bit. Red

Wheelbearing 49 #91 Posted October 31, 2013 Second, Yes I was hand delivered a foot pedal conversion from Matt. But, I wasn't crazy with the cast reverse pedal. So here is my version out of 3/16 sheet metal. I expect a text from him any minute.
