Painting help

Recommended Posts

whtractors24

I just picked up this loader the paint looks better in the picture then it really is in person my question to you guys is what paint should I use out of a rattle can? And after that should I clear coat the paint. I hope I don't have to take this to bare metal to get a decent finish I'm not looking for a show quality paint job..? Any help is certainly appreciated. And what should I use to sand it down?

Nice Loader.

The loaders are usually painted black.  Why not Rustoleum black?

Maybe some light sanding to roughen up the surface and then paint it.

Rustoleum Regal Red or Sunrise Red is also used if you want to keep it red.

Jason-

Sand it quickly with 220 on a DA or some type of sander. Wipe it clean with thinner then get yourself a good paintbrush and paint it with rusto IH red or gloss black but make sure you add a hardener to it and a little thinner too. You will be surprised how it levels out and shines nice. Since you are going to use the loader no need to make it perfect. I would say away from rattle cans on that. The only areas I would use a rattle can is the areas you cannot easily get to with the brush.

True, there is less control with a rattle can. I use a HVLP sprayer; but to be honest with you I have used a rattle can in a pinch. Rustoleum "Regal Red". I heard that Toro rattle cans are awesome, if you can find a deal on them on ebay. Prep is key!!! Scuff sand and solvent clean!
