Brian K WheelHorse 28 #1 Posted May 22, 2013 Here's my homemade sod cutter. I was going to get a single bottom Brinly plow, but I really just wanted to remove the sod, so I didn't have to till the grass and roots it into the soil for our garden. It worked pretty good. Cool thing is that I don't need a 3 point hitch: https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=10201190038741917¬if_t=video_processed

Brian K WheelHorse 28 #6 Posted May 22, 2013 I like It! Any pics or description of the construction? Yeah - I will take a video and describe the construction. I can probably have it done by this weekend. It actually can fold up for movement but that can be refined a bit.

wallfish 17,021 #14 Posted May 23, 2013 I wonder how well it would work using the mid tach and a solid link for down pressure? That could eliminate the need for a friend to stand on it, although that looks like fun too.
leeave96 487 #15 Posted May 23, 2013 That is VERY COOL!!!!!!!!! Did you transplant the sod somewhere else? Need some pics of the moldboard plowing the garden next...
Brian K WheelHorse 28 #16 Posted May 24, 2013 I wonder how well it would work using the mid tach and a solid link for down pressure? That could eliminate the need for a friend to stand on it, although that looks like fun too. I think that would work great but I like low-hassle stuff...lol. That is VERY COOL!!!!!!!!! Did you transplant the sod somewhere else? Need some pics of the moldboard plowing the garden next... I used the sod to fill some gaps where I ran a trench for drainage in my yard 2 years ago - didn't waste any of it....
bo dawg 516 #17 Posted May 24, 2013 Can it be any wider?
Brian K WheelHorse 28 #18 Posted May 25, 2013 I would have made it wider but the whole design is based on the width of the grinder blade I got got free - lol

JPWH 6,040 #25 Posted May 2, 2022 I know this thread is almost 10 yrs old but I am curious to know if anyone has built one. I have been searching the internet for ideas. I have only cut sod with with a shovel but I tore the planter facia in my right foot a couple years ago and can't do that any more.
