What I love about auctions

CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP....I went to my first live auction of the year it was for a 70 something year old selling his antique engine collection and it included a couple old garden tractors one being a 58/59 RJ which was my primary reason for going I bid it up to $250 and the bidding stalled and I got my number ready but another bidder jumped in and we stopped bidding at $600 needless to say I didn't get it since it got a little pricey for me, the restored 1961 Cub Cadet next to it went for $500.  I did end up with a load of clinton briggs and kohler engines pictured below.  Just to give you an idea of how cheap the engines were I paid $5 for the Clinton model 2500 it turns over and has compression.

I learned my lesson at this auction next time I will bring the trailer they had a bunch (15+) of complete antique restored and original walk behind 2 wheel tractors with attachments that were bringing from $10 to $50.  I am trying to downsize my collection but going to auctions like this one won't help.

Sweet little RJ, I see it had an external coil on the engine. Was it a Kohler, and was there a battery?

You have a great collection of engines, sorry you couldn't get some of the walk behinds too!

Had almost the same thing happen to me last year. I was bidding on a pristine Raider 14 with a deck and snow blower. I had all ready bought a nice snowplow with bracket for $35.00 I was the high bidder against 1 another guy at $250. Nobody else was bidding. Started to reach for my number and another guy jumps in and away we went. I stopped at $500

Nice load Ryan! I might be interested in that k90 with the down type oil bath if you decide to sell it.

Glad you got something at the auction.

As I read the thread title I thought maybe you really did like auctions....I HATE THEM!

Auctions are not that bad, at least not around here, I got a C141 Auto last year for $200 and Jim picked up a 520 H for $250...we seem to get lucky

Most of the stuff that I purchased will be going to ebay in the next few days....we are looking to get a cuddy boat or a camper so I am letting a lot of stuff go to make some extra cash.

You see Ryan. That is where my problem with going to auctions lies. I always bring a load to the auction because I too,am downsizing :greetings-clappingyellow: . Then I bring a load back :banghead: . It's a vicious circle. I can't stop myself. I am truly addicted. A very intelligent ex-auction junkie told me the very coveted secret of auction addiction recovery. Bring your items to the auction? And leave   . Like I could do that. I can't even drive by an auction without going through withdrawls. Nice engines....

So far I am a complete failure at downsizing....I loaded up 4 refurbished push mowers that needed to be delivered and the wife says that she is so happy to see me getting rid of some of my "stuff" what she didn't notice was that I returned home with 6 trade in push mowers, 1 garden tiller, 1 snowblower, 3 string trimmers, and a leaf blower.

I couldn't agree more with the failer to downsize, Pardon the expression but it sucks saying your trying when you get all kinds of things just "happen" to be for sale and at a really good price but "remember" you trying to downsize, yeah right!
