jeremi3210 735 #1 Posted May 16, 2013 So i found this gem setting on the road side for sale. The tractor is in great shape runs good, the trailer is swiss cheese. He want 750 for the pair, is that a good price?
stevasaurus 22,913 #2 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) No deck...looks repainted...had an original one at the big show a couple of years ago for $350 to $400 with the one time 701 mower deck...started right up and ran very nice... he took it home...it did not sell. I think $750 is way too much. How bad do you want it??? Comes down to that. If you are buying it to sell and make a few bucks...I do not think so. rmaynard 15,731 #3 Posted May 16, 2013 I would like to see pictures of the other side to see if the double belt cover is there, and to see if it has the correct steering support. Other details would help to determine the value. From what I see in the picture, I wouldn't offer more than $300.00. Just my 2 cents worth.
CasualObserver 3,409 #4 Posted May 16, 2013 Good price for him as a seller, not so good for anyone as a buyer. He had that at the LeSueur swap a few weeks back. It does have the double belt cover on the other side.... (or did three weeks ago) , but there's no double belt under it. It's got a K-181 instead of the original K-161. And the cart has some pretty bad rust if I remember right. I didn't pay that much attention, as I wasn't looking to buy it, but seem to recall being able to see through it. The tractor discrepancies stood out though, because the owner insisted that the 8HP engine was the right one.
jeremi3210 735 #5 Posted May 17, 2013 That is the tractor the guy selling it says he got it from a swap meet. I thought he was a little high on his price. Do you remember what they were asking for it at lesueur?
CasualObserver 3,409 #6 Posted May 17, 2013 Well when I was there on Friday I think he was asking 700 or 750 for it but it was still there when I left. Who knows what he was willing to take for it by the end of the weekend. Maybe this guy got a great deal on it and is now trying to turn a quick profit. It looks like a pretty solid tractor I just didn't think it was worth that kind of money. (And I already have two of them! ) via Tapatalk
rydogg 186 #7 Posted May 17, 2013 I talked to the seller at Le Sueur and he was asking $750 I looked it over and realized it had a k181 kohler instead of the correct k161 I said something about it being a different engine than what it came with from the factory and he claimed it was probably an option to get either engine and that I didn't know what I was talking about when I told him the 701 only had one engine to choose from. I purchased my 701 for $700 and it has a fully rebuilt original 7hp kohler the previous owner painted the engine black but it is the original with the correct split camshaft, new paint and the transmission was also gone through, I did need to get a double pulley cover and a few odds and ends to make it correct. For the wheel horse pictured above with the rusted out trailer I would offer $300-$400.
