restoration 310-8 update 2

Recommended Posts

not actually a restoration, more of, clean it , fix all the things that are broken and get it up and running...I bought this new around 1987 or so...

previous with photo's.....

So after a bit more power washing, performing all required maintenance, grease, oil, transaxle grease... nuts and bolts wire brushed etc....blades sharpened and painted...pulley's cleaned , bearings checked and re-lubed..and a new battery.

.I put it all back together this morning...

I turned  the key and it started on the 1st half crank !  Pulled out onto the lawn ..lowered the deck..lit up the blades..runs like a top...

The plan is to cut grass a few times then do some minor rust surgery to the deck..then do full detail cleaning with some paint as well....

here it is this morning...I started cutting grass then my wife took over .....we have about an acre to cut.....nice , flat, pretty good fescue , well not in the back yard as you can see....:handgestures-thumbdown:

Overall, the 310-8 was in really poor maintenance condition from not being used and left outside under a cover...After complete maintenance, grease, oil, cleaning, gas tank service, fuel lines , couple of new tires...it came to life...it runs great, very strong.....

the 3rd picture is what is looked like a month ago when I started the process

thanks

Just now reading  your post for the first time. You did a good job saving this little 310. Owning one myself, I think the 310's are very under rated. I have a recent thread regarding installing a K301 in a 310-8. Good  luck with yours this Summer and enjoy the seat time.

Agreed, I have never had any complaints with  the 310, it has done all i have ever asked it to do....Plowed Snow,( 100 foot driveway in upstate Ct )  cut grass ( of course) hauled logs, pulled an aerator with easily 100 pounds of weight on it etc....

The stark reality came to me when  I brought home that Husqvarna lawn tractor which after examination was no comparison...( returned it 2 days later )   the 310 with a strong motor and a good tranny was a no brainer to bring back to life...

The 310 is apart again in the garage with some parts  being repainted...another day or so and it's back on the lawn !
