What Are Some Good Short-Frame Parts Still Available From Toro?

Recommended Posts

Horse Play

I am wanting to order some parts from my local dealer and I was looking for some suggestions of parts I should order for my restoration while they're still available.  Do these parts look like the originals or are they revised?  Here's a list I have so far, LMK what you guys think!

5469 hood knob

6542 grip

105316 cap-plunger rod

5280 knob-height control

5457 nylon hood bushings (do these help with the hood moving around?)

7416 escutcheon plate (already have a new one - just want a spare)

102118 choke cable

102119 throttle cable (do the knobs stay on with the Toro ones?)

103565 front wheel dust caps

3577 shifter boot

5667 rubber bumpers (do these help with the fenders resting on the frame?)

5469 hood knob Not the same. Better off looking for a good used one, or get a repro from Glen Pettit

6542 grip Ordered one 4 years ago from Toro. Similar but not exact.

105316 cap-plunger rod Same, but bought a pack of 10 at the show last year for $2.00

5280 knob-height control Same and Toro is the only place I have found to get one. The inside thread is 7/16-14

5457 nylon hood bushings (do these help with the hood moving around?) They help prevent vibration.

7416 escutcheon plate (already have a new one - just want a spare) Toro still sells them, but the quality is not as good as the older ones

102118 choke cable Cheap knock-offs of the originals, but still look and function the same.

102119 throttle cable (do the knobs stay on with the Toro ones?) Never had a knob come off the Toro ones, but the twist lock fails.

103565 front wheel dust caps Toro ones don't have the horse head. Glen Pettit sells them with horse head.

3577 shifter boot  Boot is still available, but shop around. You will pay more from Toro while others sell on eBay for around $5.00.

5667 rubber bumpers (do these help with the fenders resting on the frame?) They help but don't totally prevent the fender from rubbing on other parts of the tractor.

Do not run without them I tried that once, rubbed a ton of paint off, spend a few bucks and save yourself a big headache.

Thanks for the great run-down on each part  :)

I was wondering about these because my belt guard is already painted and my fenders will be soon.  I'll have to figure out where they go because none are on my tractor.

How about belts, are there still one printed "Wheel Horse" still available?  Anyone know the belt part # for a 32" rear discharge deck?
