bean 85 #1 Posted April 18, 2013 I am looking at a c-85 and wanted to mount larger tires on it. I was thinking 26x12-12 ags. looks like there is plenty of clearance. I won't be mowing with it, so the heigth shouldn't be a problem
546cowboy 301 #2 Posted April 19, 2013 I had some on a C-175 and they will not fit without raising the seat pan about an inch and a half. Then you will have a problem with the tires hitting the foot rests. The best way to do that is shorten them about an inch at the rear so it won't be as easy as it looks. They look good in the attached pictures but they were too much trouble since I didn't shorten the foot rests just bent them some.
rockinhorse 45 #3 Posted April 19, 2013 I have a set of 26x12x12's on my raider 12. Like 546 cowboy said you will have to raise seat pan and adjust foot rests. It's a little work but it sure LOOKS GOOD. If you want p/m me i will send some pics. If you put a spacer under the bracket that the foot rests are bolted to then you will have to drill new holes in belt shield.
joel_400 59 #4 Posted April 19, 2013 I made 13.5" rims to put the 26x12x12s on, flattened em out real good. Only had to raise the fender 3/4" and trim the lip off the back edge of the running board. If I can find a pic I'll post it. The best bet is to get at least a 10.5" rim to get the tire flattened out as much as you can. Joel

baerpath 517 #6 Posted April 19, 2013 The old Firestones,Goodyears and Carlisles are taller than the new versions, China 26's are around 24-25 so I would try them first before doing the running boards. I've also just bowed the upright to clear tires before

I've also just bowed the upright to clear tires before I have noticed that the deestone ags are a little shorter. they have a 26x12 that would probably fit without any mods. great idea
meadowfield 2,596 #8 Posted April 19, 2013 I have some deestone 26 12 12 that are a very flat profile. I welded an inch strip on the bottom of the transmission mount and drilled 4 holes 1.5 inch further down. This dropped the tranny giving the clearance without have to mod as much. Gear levers are fine, belt runs a bit tighter, but that's not an issue.... Yet :)

baerpath 517 #10 Posted April 19, 2013 Never thought of dropping the trany. That would take the clearance issues out. I usually just cut the H and weld a 1 1/4 wide strip in to raise the fenders or use to H's to make the height I need
meadowfield 2,596 #11 Posted April 19, 2013 Unfortunately only got pics of tyres, and chassis mods, not both together! Child no 2 wanted 23 9.50 12 carlisle ag's in the end....
Irv 115 #12 Posted April 19, 2013 Why not put 23/10.50's on? I have a pair on my c-160 and they are plenty big enough and look great! No adjustments needed.
Martin 2,133 #13 Posted April 20, 2013 if you want the 12 x 12 but are willing to come down on your overall diameter...... 24 x12 -12 looks great on the 12 x 8.5 rims on a c series in my opinion........ 5

tractornut86 620 #15 Posted April 20, 2013 Being a 8hp tractor a pair of 23x10.50 would look nice. Here is my 857 with 23x10.50 on john deere rims.
Forest Road 594 #16 Posted April 21, 2013 I'm happy with 23s. If you ever need to use chains you'll still have clearance.
Stigian 1,234 #17 Posted April 21, 2013 26X12-12's on my 312-8.. I had to raise the fender pan by an inch, the foot plates were cut and re-angled to gain a bit of tire clearance... I also cut and widened the wheel rims by an inch odd.. The difference in traction is amazing especially with filled rear tires

IMG_1888.JPG IMG_1889.JPG I love the 24s. I had those same carlisle tires on my old tractor and they do a nice job on grass. Being a 8hp tractor a pair of 23x10.50 would look nice. Here is my 857 with 23x10.50 on john deere rims. I have a 310-8 with 23s. they do look good. just thinking of trying something different.
