Newbie first wheel horses

Recommended Posts

Hatedge

Hi , I bought my first GT last year, it was a Bolens 1886-01 but I was forced to sell it. Yesterday I bought 2 wheel horses and I hope to somewhat restore them so that I can use them in the yard and look good doing it  :)

I have no knowledge whatsoever about wheel horse and am hoping to learn a few things with you guys and to get some help repairing those horses

Heres the  c160 and c120 a picked up, anyone got a guess as to year they are?

They are both 1974-1977 models. If they have flip up rear fender pans they are early and if no flip up fender pan they would be newer.

The ID plates may be visible on the side of the hoodstand below the dash housing in both pictures. What's on them?

ok started checking out my new horses and I nee a 3 blade kit fo the mower. The mower model is 5 0711 6 and ive been looking around to find spacs to know what kind of blades I can get but I dont seem to find this info anywhere. Does anyone here know the size and specs of the blades that go on there cos I dont have any blade on the mower and cannot compare to find a working replacement.

Also is there a low budget decal set available anywhere? Even if its only the hood set?

Thanks a lot but this manual is for 8 speed C160. I have the automatic version. I realise that a lot is the same in the C series and I will read the manuals you linked me but Id like to get the C 160 automatic if it exists, especilly since I think I have discoveed the possibility to hook a hydraulic lift on it and would love to get info on the specific of my model. But have no fear your hunt is not wasted because I will read the manual anyway...I might learn something (more than likely) :)

This only proves that my paticular model manuals are not easy to find. My C160 is a 1972 and the C120 is a 1974 I think.

Still thanks to you Gwest I will add them to my library of bedtime reading :)

I thought your C-160 Auto was a model 1-0481 with serial 107229 which is a 1975.

Yes you are right. I got mixed up with a Bombardier Nodic 1972 that I recently aquired. Sorry for the mix up. And TY for the manuals.

if we substract 5 from 9 it would be 74 no? Im getting a bit mixed up here. :confusion-scratchheadblue:

Upon closer inspection and inventory of the loose parts I have realised that the lift system on the 160  was probably hydraulic before it was replaced with the lift lever from the c120. Sadly the Hydro ram didnt come with the tractor but I have the original lift bracket.

What is the model number on the plate? 1-0480-9? That would be a 1974.

They dropped the 6th digit in 1975 so that model number should be 1-0481 only.

Looking to find a new home for my 84 (I think) C-145. It has a dump trailer with the enclosure for leaves, the PTO impeller to get the leafs into the trailer, the hoses for deck-to-impeller, impeller-to-trailer.

I haven’t run it in over a year.
The battery and the cable to the battery probably need to be replaced.
Comes with a new head gasket still in the bag.
Seat is cracked but still comfortable.

Happy to answer questions or take other pictures.

I’m looking for wheel horse tractors for sale or for parts in the Eastern Nebraska or western Iowa area. Preferably 8 speed manuals. Pm me or comment with what you have. The worst I could say is it’s out of my price or distance range. Edit: engine is not important, it’s going to get an engine swap.
      Thanks,
      John

Hello all. I am looking for suggestions on adapting the pto from my C series tractor to a harbor freight predator 420 13hp engine. I know the predator motors are a controversial topic however it is the route I have chosen for this particular machine. The intent was to mostly use it for plowing so no PTO required but it would be handy to have. Looking to hear from someone that has successfully done the swap that may offer any advice before I attempt to transfer it over. Just looking for any general pointers that will help me along the way to make it go as smoothly as possible.

1979 c-101 nice project tractor just needs a few odds and ends, steering wheel, coil, carburetor bowl, the wiring was redone by previous owner....all 4 tires are good and hold air it goes into all gears no problem, transmission fluid has been changed, 10hp Kohler, message me or call or txt with any questions, it does run and runs well,  it’s been kept inside since I’ve had it, I would also trade for a mid mount grader blade thanks
