Anyone into vintage gas pumps here? ESSO PUMP

Recommended Posts

stevebo

I have been bugging the farmer up the road to sell me his old Esso gas pump for some time now. Over the weekend I took the burban and cart up the hill to get some hay. When I was there I asked him again if he would sell it and he said he would so I unhooked it from the underground tank and got her home. He used it from the time he took over the farm in 1957 until about 20 years ago. While searching the net I could not find any sites that would help me date the pump. Anyone here into these old esso pumps? I figure it to be a late 40's or 50's pump.

Google Gilbarco Gas Pumps.  There is a lot there, and the original company is still selling pumps & stuff.

Some on eBay now also, seems like a lot of $$$ for a pump there.

I'm going to guess Gilbarco 906 made from 1953-1956.  There should be a data plate on it somewhere.

The pump has been reprinted at some point. I think the numbers are on the nozzle holder chrome plate. Will have to figure it out once I restore. If so, perfect years for my collection!

There is a place in Ft Worth, Tx that sells parts if you don't find a dealer up there. Always wanted one, but all I've seen restored are $1k +. Some guy turned em into shop bar/stereo combo.

After doing some research it looks to be a 1956 which is the same year as my senior!! It may end up with a little different theme than automotive... Lol
